Following the launch of the GMC Hummer EV Pickup truck, GMC is looking to expand the Hummer EV line with a new SUV body style. The GMC Hummer EV arrives with a lot of the same performance, features, and design elements as the Hummer EV Pickup, the SUV promises to be a more appealing choice for drivers that don’t need a mega-sized pickup.

GMC is offering the Hummer EV in four trims: EV2, EV2X, EV3X, and Edition 1. Pricing for the Hummer EV ranges from $80,395 to $100,395 for the EV2 up to the EV3X. The Edition 1 costs $105,595.

The Hummer EV is available with two different electric powertrains. The EV2 and EV2X both come with dual electric motors that are good for 625 horsepower and 7,400 pound-feet of torque. The two base trims feature a standard 400-volt electrical architecture, but GMC hasn’t confirmed the battery size yet, but the pickup truck comes with a 212.7-kWh battery pack.

The EV3X and Edition 1 SUVs come with three electric motors – one in the front and two in the back – for a total of 830 hp and 11,500 pound-feet of torque. These higher trims feature an 800-volt system that allows for 300-kW charging.

All GMC will say about the Hummer EV’s range is that it will offer more than 300 miles of range.

A few words on the Hummer EV’s torque figures. The numbers are misleading. Automakers usually measure torque at the crankshaft, but for the Hummer EV, GMC decided to measure torque at the wheels. This allows the brand to multiply the figure by the Hummer EV’s gear ratios, resulting in a much higher number. If Chevrolet did something similar with the Silverado 3500HD, the truck with the turbo-diesel 6.6-liter V8 engine would make 14,129 lb-ft of torque.

Despite its massive size, the GMC Hummer EV offers seating for up to five. Without a third row, the SUV boasts an enormous cabin. With the rear seats folded flat, the SUV offers up to 81.8 cubic feet of total cargo space.

GMC hasn’t confirmed the Hummer EV’s list of standard safety features yet. We expect the SUV to come standard with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and a surround-view camera.

Super Cruise, which is GMC’s hands-free driver-assist system, will be optional throughout the Hummer EV lineup and standard on Edition 1. We also expected a parking system to be available, too.

Even the base Hummer EV comes with an impressive roster of standard tech features. The SUV comes with a 13.4-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch instrument cluster. A 14-speaker Bose audio system, a universal garage door opener, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Bluetooth, a wireless charging pad, and navigation are standard.

The rugged Hummer EV2 comes with a power swing-out rear door, a power-operated window in the liftgate, a full-size spare tire, 22-inch wheels, 35-inch all-terrain tires, GMC’s Infinity Roof that allows the SUV to turn into a convertible, keyless entry, 16 inches of ground clearance, 13 inches of suspension travel, and two-feet of water fording capability.

On the inside, the trim comes with eight-way power-adjustable front seats, leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, automatic climate control, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering column, and a driver-selectable rotary mode controller.

The EV2 is available with a few optional packages. The Illumination Package costs $1,995 and adds off-road auxiliary lights, exterior rearview mirror projection lights, accessory touch-screen control switches, and interior ambient footwell lighting.

The Sport Package adds sport pedal covers, red badges, splash guards, and red recovery hooks for $1,345. The $895 Cargo Utility Package adds an all-weather cargo liner, a cargo security shade, a cargo organizer, and a cargo net.

All of these packages are available throughout the entire GMC Hummer EV range.

Stepping up to the EV2X adds four-wheel steering called CrabWalk, adaptive air suspension, Extract Mode that can raise the SUV’s height by roughly six inches, adaptive air suspension, and adaptive ride control.

Unlike lower trims, the EV2X is available with the $9,995 Extreme Off-Road Package. It includes 18-inch wheels, Goodyear mud tires, underbody skid plates, electronic front and rear locking differentials, underbody cameras, assist steps, and recovery hooks.

The six-figure EV3X adds another electric motor for increased power and performance. The Watts To Freedom mode is standard, allowing the SUV to get to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. Torque vectoring is also included with the trim.

A Power Station generator and Sky Panel transparent roof panels are optional.

The range-topping Edition 1 is a limited-edition version of the SUV. It has special Moonshot Green Matte paint, a Lunar Shadow interior, and transparent Sky Panels. Other special features that are limited to the Edition 1 include Regen on Demand, Terrain Mode, and one-pedal driving.
