What's New
The 2022 Honda Passport crossover receives freshened styling and a new trim called TrailSport which capitalizes on the off-road-themed trend.
Choosing Your Honda Passport
The 2022 Passport is available in three trim levels, the EX-L, TailSport, and Elite. Prices range from $39,095 to $46,655.
Engine Choices
The Passport keeps it simple with a single powertrain offering, a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters that sends power to the front wheels, while a true torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system with terrain management is available for $2,100 on the EX-L and standard on the other trims.
The front-wheel-drive Passport earns an EPA-estimated 20 miles per gallon city, 25 mpg highway, and 22 combined. The all-wheel-drive models see those figures reduced by one mpg across the board.
Passenger and Cargo Capacity
The Passport seats five and stretches to 189 inches in length, sits 78.6 inches wide, and stands 72.2 inches tall - about seven inches shorter than its three-row platform-mate, the Honda Pilot and nearly three inches wider than Toyota’s five-passenger Venza hybrid.
Inside, the Passport offers a generous 39.6 inches of second-row legroom and 41.2 cubic feet of space which grows to 77.7 cubic feet with the seatbacks folded. That is more legroom and cargo space than the larger Jeep New Grand Cherokee. The Passport’s 8.1 inches of ground clearance is an inch more than the off-road themed GMC Acadia AT4 trim.
The Passport is rated to tow 3,500 pounds or 5,000 pounds when equipped with all-wheel drive - plenty for hauling around Honda ATVs and dirt bikes.
Safety Features
The Passport is equipped with the full suite of active safety technology such as automatic emergency braking, blind-spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, front and rear parking sensors, and a rear-seat reminder system which is new for 2022. The Elite trim adds rain-sensing wipers.
The Honda earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and mostly Good ratings for crashworthiness (Acceptable for passenger-side narrow off-set) and an Advanced (mid-level) rating for its vehicle-to-vehicle collision avoidance performance.
Connectivity
All Passports are equipped with an eight-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM, and HD Radio compatibility. The EX-L trim features a seven-speaker (with a subwoofer) 215-watt stereo that is upgraded to 10-speakers and 540-watts in the Elite trim which also gains a Wi-Fi hotspot and remote connectivity.
There are a total of four USB ports, three 12-volt outlets, and a wireless charging mat on all trims while the TrailSport and Elite trims gain a 115-volt power outlet.
2022 Honda Passport EX-L - MSRP From $39,095
The base Passport trim is well equipped with features such as 20-inch wheels, a power tailgate, remote engine start, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, a capless fuel filler, proximity entry with walk-away auto-lock, perforated leather seats with heating for the front row and 10-way power adjustability with memory for the driver, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a tri-zone climate control system, a sunroof, and one-touch up/down front windows.
2022 Honda Passport TrailSport - MSRP From $43,695
The TrailSport wears 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, a gray grille with gloss-black upper trim, a silver lower front and rear fascia insert, LED fog lights, roof rails, gloss-black mirror housings with power-folding capability, unique darkened taillights, and bright orange TrailSport badging.
The interior also gains unique TrailSport flair with orange stitching on the steering wheel and seats as well as TrailSport floor mats. The mid-level trim also features interior ambient lighting, a heated wiper park area, second-row sunshades, and illuminated front cup holders.
2022 Honda Passport Elite - MSRP From $46,655
The Elite trim features uniquely styled 20-inch wheels, a hands-free power tailgate, auto-dimming mirrors with courtesy lighting, acoustic side glass, ventilated front seats and heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and white ambient lighting.
