2023 Hyundai IONIQ 5 Available With Limited Availability; 2022s Sold Out

The IONIQ 5 is an all-new EV with a range of over 300 miles and a starting price of just over $40,000. Hyundai already has a handful of deals for buying & leasing its newest electric car.

Shoppers should be aware that the base model IONIQ 5 won't be available until the spring. For now, the cheapest model is the 303-mile EV with an MSRP of almost $45,000. Hyundai is limiting initial IONIQ 5 sales to AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, IL, ME, MD, MA, NJ, NY, OR, PA, RI, TX, VT, VA, and WA.

Current offers end on November 30, 2022. Examples here are for Southern California unless noted otherwise. This page is updated monthly with the most recent incentives, so be sure to check back for the latest info. We don't expect to see any Hyundai IONIQ 5 Black Friday deals this month.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 Lease Deals

No advertised lease deals

Hyundai doesn't have an advertised lease incentive yet on the 2022 IONIQ 5 or 2023 IONIQ 5.

Although a $7,500 federal tax credit was available to make the IONIQ 5 cheaper to lease, Hyundai Motor Finance (HMF) was actually keeping the incentive to itself. Normally, automakers that make electric cars & SUVs pass the savings on to consumers in the form of lease cash. The IONIQ 5 is no longer available with a Federal Tax Credit, though state rebates may still be available.

Hyundai has stopped offering the IONIQ 5 with a lease-like balloon financing option called Hyundai Evolve Retail. Previously, the electric car was listed at $610 per month for 36 months with $3,059 due at signing. The 2023 IONIQ 5 SE Standard Range was slightly more affordable with a monthly payment of $600 per month for 36 months with $3,077 due at signing.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 Rebate Deals

Plug-in rebates available

There are no manufacturer rebates yet on the 2022 IONIQ 5 or 2023 IONIQ 5. However, you will find a variety of state & local plug-in rebates depending on where you live.

For example, the California Clean Vehicle Rebate (CVRP) offers a $2,000 post-purchase incentive on EVs. In addition, the California Clean Fuel Reward (CCFR) provides upfront savings of $750. That's $2,750 in potential incentives for those who qualify.

Manufacturer incentives can typically be combined with state plug-in incentives, but be sure to read the applicable fine print just to be sure.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 Finance Deals

No financing deals

Hyundai has canceled its financing deals for the 2023 IONIQ 5 this month. Previously, the 2022 IONIQ 5 was available with 3.75% APR financing for up to 60 months and 4.75% APR financing for 72 months. These rates are slightly higher than the ones that were available for the IONIQ 5 earlier this year.

The 2023 IONIQ 5 isn't available with a special financing deal this month.

2023 Hyundai IONIQ 5: Preview, Pricing, Release Date

Model Preview

After coming out as an all-new electric crossover in 2022, the 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 5 will arrive as a carryover model. With advanced tech features, a funky design, and a roomy cabin, the IONIQ 5 is a great vessel for Hyundai to kick off its new all-electric IONIQ subbrand.

As a carryover model, the IONIQ 5 will have the same exterior design as the current EV that’s on sale. The current compact crossover features a futuristic look with boxy lines, sharp creases, and angular front and rear ends. The front end has a triangular clamshell hood that protrudes forward slightly and houses square headlights that look like pixels. The rear taillights have the same pixelated look as the headlights, a boxy liftgate, and a recessed rear bumper. Even in the wonky world of EVs, the 2022 IONIQ 5 has a unique design that will remain the same for 2023. A new color, Gravity Gold Matte, is available for 2023.

From the outside, the current IONIQ 5 looks like a compact crossover, but its wheelbase is actually longer than the midsize Hyundai Palisade’s. This results in a spacious cabin. The glass roof also helps with the airy feel. As far as the interior design, it’s not nearly as outlandish as the outside. The dashboard is split into two sections, with the larger side housing the single unit for the digital instrument cluster and touchscreen, as well as the HVAC controls. The two-spoke steering wheel and column-mounted shifter are touches that help the IONIQ 5’s interior look modern. The 2023 IONIQ 5 will share the same look as the current model that’s on sale.

The 2023 IONIQ 5 will come with a lot of the same tech features as the current model that’s on sale. We can expect the electric crossover to come standard with two 12.3-inch displays, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, voice recognition, navigation, and satellite radio. Higher trim levels come with a head-up display with augmented reality and a Bose audio system.

For the 2023 model year, Hyundai has confirmed increased towing capacity, better fuel economy, and 10 more miles of range per charge on the IONIQ 5. There's also a battery hearting system and battery preconditioning function that are now standard.

The all-electric IONIQ 5 will be available in two configurations. The most affordable option is a single electric motor mounted at the rear wheels that produces 168 horsepower. A 58-kWh battery pack is standard, bringing a range of 220 miles. A larger 77.4-kWh battery pack is available, bringing a range of 303 miles with RWD. AWD IONIQ 5 models are rated at up to 320 hp and can travel up to 256 miles.

The IONIQ 5 is capable of charging via a 350-kW charger, which gives the vehicle an 80% charge from 10% in 18 minutes.

Every IONIQ 5 will come with Hyundai’s Smart Sense suite of advanced safety features that includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, and a driver drowsiness monitor. Available features include Hyundai's Highway Driving Assist 2 system, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, a surround-view parking camera, as well as remote and automated parking assist. The IONIQ 5 will come standard with seatbelt reminders for all five passengers.

Pricing & Release Date

We expect the 2023 model IONIQ 5 to arrive before the end of this year.

Without any major changes, we expect pricing for the 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 5 to stay close to the current model’s range of $40,925 to $55,725 with destination.

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 will compete against the Nissan Ariya, Chevrolet Bolt EUV, Volkswagen ID.4, and Tesla Model Y.

Check back for updates as details become available.
