The 2023 Hyundai NEXO continues essentially unchanged. The hydrogen-fueled NEXO debuted in 2019 and is sold in California only.
Choosing Your Hyundai Nexo
The NEXO once again comes in two trim levels: Blue and Limited. The Blue starts at $61,470 including destination, and the Limited carries an MSRP of $64,920.
The NEXO qualifies for a $4,500 California Clean Vehicle Rebate subject to buyer income limitations. In addition, Hyundai offers complimentary fuel for up to $15,000 for six years.
Engine Choices
The NEXO features an electric motor fueled by hydrogen gas. The motor develops 161 horsepower and 291 lb-ft of torque, sent to the front wheels through a single-speed transmission. Refueling takes about five minutes at a public hydrogen fuel station.
The NEXO Blue offers a range of 380 miles and is EPA-rated at 61 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) in combined driving. The more heavily equipped Limited has a range of 354 miles and is rated at 57 MPGe combined.
Passenger and Cargo Capacity
The NEXO is a compact, two-row crossover with room for five. Buyers get 29.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat and 56.5 cubic feet with it folded.
Safety Features
The NEXO comes thoroughly equipped for safety with adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, driver alertness monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic emergency braking. The Limited also gets surround-view cameras, a blind spot monitor view, and an automated parking system with remote activation.
Connectivity
The standard infotainment system for the NEXO includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen, navigation, six speakers, HD and satellite radio, three USB ports, wireless phone charging, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Moving up to the Limited brings a Krell eight-speaker sound system.
2023 Hyundai NEXO Blue — MSRP From $61,470
The Blue carries a leatherette interior with heated eight-way power front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a cargo cover, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Other features include proximity access, LED exterior lighting, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
2023 Hyundai NEXO Limited — MSRP From $64,920
In addition to its safety and connectivity upgrades, the Limited picks up ventilated front seats, automatic wipers, a sunroof, a hands-free power liftgate, and 19-inch wheels. There are no options for either NEXO trim.
