What's New
After arriving as a fully redesigned vehicle in 2022, the 2023 Lexus NX arrives without any major changes.
Choosing Your Lexus NX
The NX is available in six trims: NX 250, NX 350, NX 350 F Sport Handling, NX 350h Hybrid, the plug-in hybrid 450h+, and the NX 450h+ F Sport Handling. The lineup can seem daunting at first glance, but the NX can be broken down by gas-powered models, hybrids, and plug-in hybrids.
Pricing for the NX starts at $40,205 (with destination) for the NX 250 and tops out at $59,905 for the NX 450h+ F Sport Handling.
Engine Choices
Lexus offers the NX with four different powertrains. Just like the trim levels, the breakdown involves separating gas-powered engines from electrified powertrains. The NX is available with a four-cylinder engine, a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a hybrid powertrain, and a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Gas-only engines come with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the electrified powertrains feature a continuously variable automatic transmission.
Despite bringing more performance, the electrified powertrains also bring improved fuel economy. The base NX 250 is the only trim in the lineup to come with standard front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available for $1,600. The NX 450h+ trims come with an 18.1-kWh battery pack that provides up to 37 miles of all-electric range.
Engine Type | Trim Level | Horsepower | Torque | Fuel Economy (Combined) |
2.5L 4-Cylinder | NX 250 | 203 hp | 184 lb-ft | 28 mpg |
2.4L Turbo 4-Cylinder | NX 350 | 275 hp | 317 lb-ft | 25 mpg |
2.5L 4-Cylinder Hybrid | NX 450h | 240 hp | Not Yet Rated | 39 mpg |
2.5L 4-Cylinder Plug-in Hybrid | NX 450h+ | 304 hp | Not Yet Rated | 84 MPGe |
Passenger and Cargo Capacity
All NX models offer seating for up to five people. The compact SUV offers up to 22.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 46.9 cubic feet of total cargo space with the rear seats folded. Lexus has packaged the NX Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid’s battery components in a way that doesn’t affect cargo capacity, as all NX models have the same cargo space.
Safety Features
Every NX comes with the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 suite of advanced safety features. Standard equipment on the NX includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam assist, traffic sign recognition, and vehicle exit warning.
For $1,070, buyers can spec the NX with a surround-view camera, lane change assist, and front and rear cross-traffic alert. A head-up display is included in the available Luxury Package which costs $6,150. Automatic park assist is available for $480.
Connectivity
The NX comes with a 9.8-inch touchscreen and a seven-inch digital instrument cluster as standard. Other standard features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a “Hey, Lexus” virtual assistant, an HD Radio, and 10 audio speakers.
The Luxury Package adds a 14-inch touchscreen and cloud-connected navigation. For $450, the NX can be fitted with a wireless charging pad and a smart access card key. A Mark Levinson 17-speaker audio system is available for $2,125, but it requires getting the $3,050 Premium Package and the $100 interior ambient lighting or for $1,020 with the available Luxury Package.
2023 Lexus NX 250 – From $40,205
The NX 250 starts things off nicely with dual-zone automatic climate control, eight-way power-adjustable front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, auto-dimming mirrors, roof rails, 18-inch wheels, and a universal garage door opener.
The Premium Package costs $3,050 and adds heated and ventilated front seats, a memory setting for the driver’s seat, a moonroof, a power liftgate, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering column, and park assist.
The Luxury Package is the second large package and includes perforated leather upholstery, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 10-inch head-up display, wood trim, ambient interior lighting, and all of the features from the Premium Package.
Lexus offers a variety of standalone options that include: a 2,000-pound towing capacity ($160), a power liftgate ($400), a moonroof ($1,100), a 10-inch head-up display and a digital rearview mirror ($1,100), heated rear seats ($1,030), adaptive LED headlights ($850), a panoramic glass roof ($500), a digital rearview mirror ($200), and rain-sensing windshield wipers ($125).
2023 Lexus NX 350 – MSRP From $43,965
The main upgrade that the NX 350 brings over the NX 250 is a more powerful turbocharged engine, standard AWD, and active noise cancellation.
The NX 350 is available with a lot of the same optional features as the NX 250, but the Luxury Package costs $7,450 because it adds 20-inch wheels.
2023 Lexus NX 350h – MSRP From $43,805
The NX 350h adds a hybrid powertrain on top of the NX 350’s standard features and it’s available with the same optional features.
2023 Lexus NX 350 F Sport Handling – MSRP From $49,065
The NX 350 F Sport Handling turns up the SUV’s handling capability with an adaptive sport-tuned suspension, 20-inch wheels, aluminum interior trim, and an aggressive body kit. Rain-sensing windshield wipers and a head-up display are standard.
The trim is available with one major package called the F Sport Handling Luxury Package. It costs $2,200 and adds a sunroof, ventilated front seats, a hands-free power liftgate, ambient interior lighting, a larger touchscreen, navigation, automatic park assist, and adaptive front headlights.
2023 Lexus NX 450h+ – MSRP From $58,655
The NX 450h+ is the first trim to come with the available plug-in hybrid powertrain. It comes with all of the features from the Luxury Package as standard equipment.
2023 Lexus NX 450h+ F Sport Handling – MSRP From $59,905
The range-topping NX 450h+ F Sport Handling trim merges the plug-in hybrid powertrain with the sporty suspension and design of the F Sport Handling trim. It comes with the F Sport Handling Luxury Package as standard equipment.
The main decision with the 2023 Lexus NX is getting the right powertrain for your needs. We think the turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the NX 350 is a great balance of performance, price, and fuel economy. The Luxury Package is a pricey upgrade, but it can be seen as a one-and-done package that brings every feature you could ever need in one convenient bundle.
