2023 Porsche 718 - Exclusive Ashburn New Car Discounts

The 2023 Porsche 718 Cayman officially carries into the new year unchanged, however, there are reports of a high-performance RS variant of the high-styled Spyder model in store for buyers.

The 2022 Porsche 718 is available in seven trims that bring different levels of performance and style, ranging from the Base, to the T, S, GTS 4.0, GT4, and GT4 RS.

The Cayman is the coupe variant and is available in all trims except for Spyder trim, which is available in the Boxster’s soft-top body only. Currently, the top performance models, the GT4 and GT4 RS are available in Cayman form only.

Base prices range from $64,850 (or $66,950 for the Boxster) to $150,550.

The Cayman and the Boxster largely share powertrains among their trims while the GT4 RS packs a literal racing engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that’s been re-geared from the standard $3,210 version which can be fitted to the other models in place of their standard six-speed manual transmission. All variants are rear-wheel drive.

The 2023 Porsche 718 stretches to 172.4 inches which is shorter than the Corvette and about the same length as the Jaguar F-Type and the Toyota Supra. Like those models, the 718 is strictly a two-seater and its shape doesn’t preclude a large cargo volume, which makes the Cayman relatively roomy with a 5.2-cubic foot front trunk and a 9.7-cubic foot rear trunk. The Boxster’s folding top reduces the rear trunk space to 4.4 cubic feet.

The 2023 Porsche 718 models are light on active safety features. Front and rear parking sensors are standard and blind-spot detection is available for $700. The 718 has not been tested by IIHS or NHTSA.

A seven-inch touchscreen is standard and is compatible with Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM, HD Radio, and Bluetooth. A Bose 10-speaker 505-watt sound system is optional for $990 and a Burmester system is available (except for the GT4 models) for $4,690 which includes more speakers, more power, and promises greater clarity. Navigation with Wi-Fi requires another $2,320.

The base trim is equipped with LED running lights, dynamic bi-xenon headlights, and LED taillights, 18-inch wheels, heated mirrors with auto-dimming, and an automatically deploying rear wing. Inside, the heated seats are partially covered in leather, the steering wheel tilts, telescopes, and is wrapped in leather, and the driver receives a high-definition 4.6-inch driver information display.

The Boxster starts at $66,950 and is equipped similarly but of course, includes a soft top that is fitted with a power-folding mechanism with enough power to raise or lower at speeds up to 31 miles per hour.

The Premium Package ($4,140) bundles desirable features such as LED headlights with automatic high beams, power-folding mirrors, proximity entry, the Bose sound system, ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, and ambient interior lighting. These items are also available individually.

Other noteworthy options include a $1,3200 torque-vectoring rear differential, adaptive dampers ($1,790) which also bring a lower ride height, and the Sport Chrono Package ($2,090) which brings active driveline mounts, launch control, and additional steering wheel controls. In the name of styling and luxury, the exterior design package with revised bumpers and additional painted surfaces for $3,050, leather seats ($2,520), 18-way power sport seats ($3,830), contrast stitching throughout the interior ($3,230), and custom exterior paint ($11,430) are available to order.

The 718 T models are a tribute to the 1968 911 T that placed an emphasis on upgrading the driving experience and less so on additional creature comforts. Twenty-inch wheels wrapped in performance summer tires, a lowered sport suspension, a centrally-located sport exhaust, sport plus seats, door pull straps, a sport steering wheel, and additional chassis mode controls are standard. The Boxster T starts at $76,510.

The optional Premium Package is now $3,600, lightweight carbon-fiber seats are available for $5,900 and can be fitted with a 3D-printed insert for $3,380, and the steering wheel is wrapped in a high-grip microfiber material for $890.

The S trim adds luxury back into the lineup and is fitted with a more powerful engine, a sport exhaust system with brushed stainless steel outlets and upgraded brakes. Feature-wise, it is similar to that of the Base trim. The Boxster S is priced from $78,950.

The GTS is another Porsche-purist variation as it returns to the naturally-aspirated six-cylinder engine, features a sport suspension, 20-inch wheels, upgraded brakes with red calipers, a sport exhaust, a unique front fascia, and a steering wheel and sport seats that are wrapped in microfiber. It also includes the features of the Sport Chrono package and a torque-vectoring rear differential. The Boxster GTS starts at $94,370.

The GT4 continues to increase the performance spectrum of the 718 with plenty of aerodynamic enhancements such as a unique front fascia with greater openings for improved cooling, an extended front lip, specific performance-enhancing underbody surfacing, a rear diffuser and a fixed rear wing.

It also receives chassis enhancements through added structural reinforcements, 20-inch wheels with high-performance Porsche-specific tires, a lightened and more rigid suspension, and high-performance brakes with the option of carbon-ceramic rotors for $8,000.

The GT4 can be equipped with many of the premium features (to build to its upgraded interior with Alcantara) that are offered on the more pedestrian trims.

The Spyder is nearly aligned with the GT4 in terms of performance. Its unique rear deck accommodates a lightweight soft-top that is designed to handle a 186-mph top speed while an automatically-deploying rear spoiler helps to increase downforce.

The GT4 RS is intended for frequent race-track use. Beyond its powertrain upgrade, its chassis is wider and stronger than the standard model, and its aerodynamic designs

The Weissach Package is offered only on this trim and adds a carbon fiber front trunk lid, air intake garnishes, mirrors, rear spoiler, as well as interior carbon fiber to the front, and special embroidery for $13,250. Once the Weissach Package has been selected, lightweight wheels are available for $15,640. A front-axle lift system is also offered for $3,04 and raises the front end by 1.1 inches.
