2023 Solterra EV available nationwide
The 2023 Subaru Solterra is an all-new EV with an estimated range of 228 miles. While the small crossover was developed alongside the Toyota bZ4X, the Toyota version carries a lower price and an estimated range of 252 miles.
Unlike the Toyota bZ4X, the Solterra is on sale in all 50 states. The bZ4X will initially be limited to zero-emission states. This could make the Subaru easier to find, though real-world availability may be limited due to broader inventory shortages.

Subaru Solterra Lease Deals
Lease From $569/month
The 2023 Subaru Solterra Premium once again starts at $569 for 36 months (10,000 miles a year) with $2,919 due at signing. The effective monthly cost works out to $650, which is better than last month but still a tad expensive for this price class.
However, manufacturer EV leases usually don't include available state rebates (see below), so advertised prices may not reflect your actual cost. When comparing dealer lease prices for the Solterra, be sure to find out what is (and isn't) included in the figures.
Subaru lease prices can vary by region. Payments are generally $10 to $20 cheaper in coastal cities. If you're currently in a Subaru lease, your first payment will be complimentary up to $500.
Subaru Solterra Rebate Deals
Up to $2,000 off in CA
The 2023 Solterra qualifies for state EV rebates like the California Clean Vehicle Rebate ($2,000), although the $750 Clean Fuel Reward remains on pause. The CVRP is available whether you buy or lease. Be sure to check for any such programs in your state.
Subaru Solterra Financing Deals
Rates from 3.9% APR
Promotional financing on the 2023 Solterra starts at 3.9% for 48 months, the same as last month.
If you want longer to pay, Subaru also offers 4.9% for 63 months and 5.9% for 72 months. While these deals are available, you won't find them advertised because Subaru is allowing dealers to mark up the rates by 1%.

The 2023 Subaru Solterra debuts as the brand's first all-electric vehicle. Like other Subaru crossovers, the Solterra offers standard all-wheel drive, room for five, and high versatility. As the costliest model the lineup, the Solterra is available with exclusive features like surround-view cameras and a 12.3-inch touchscreen. Most important is Solterra's ability to deliver up to 228 gas-free miles between charges.
Choosing Your Subaru Solterra
The new Solterra EV comes in the three trim levels: Premium, Limited, and Touring. Pricing starts at $46,220 including destination and tops out at $53,220 for the Touring.
Buyers are eligible for a federal EV tax credit up to $7,500, subject to income limitations. The Solterra also qualifies for a various state incentives like the California Clean Vehicle Rebate ($2,000) and Clean Fuel Reward ($750).
Engine Choices
The 2023 Solterra EV is powered by front and rear electric motors. Combined output comes to 215 horsepower and 249 lb-ft of torque, distributed to all four wheels through a single-speed automatic transmission. A terrain selector is standard on all trims. With 8.3 inches of ground clearance, the Solterra is fit for moderate off-road duty.
According to Subaru, the Premium model offers up 228 miles of range, while the Limited and Touring are good for 222 miles. Recharging a fully depleted battery to 80 percent takes less than an hour at a Level 3 public charging station. A full recharge takes about nine hours on a Level 2 home charger.
Passenger and Cargo Capacity
The Solterra is a compact, two-row crossover with legitimate room for five. The cargo area holds up to 30.3 cubic feet and more than twice that with the rear seat folded.
Safety Features
The Solterra starts out with adaptive cruise control with lane-centering, front and rear automatic emergency braking, front cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, lane keep assist, evasive steering assist, automatic high beams, and safe exit assist. Upgrading to the Limited brings surround-view cameras (a Subaru first) and an automated parking system. The Touring also carries a rearview camera mirror and rear cross-traffic alert.
The Solterra's digital instrument cluster is mounted high enough that it essentially functions as a head-up display.
Connectivity
The standard infotainment setup includes an 8-inch touchscreen, six speakers, HD and satellite radio, five USB ports, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Connected services like navigation, Wi-Fi, and smartphone-based controls are available by subscription.
The Limited and Touring also get wireless phone charging, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen, the largest ever in a Subaru.
2023 Solterra Premium — MSRP From $46,220
The Premium trim gives buyers a decent array of features, including heated front seats (manual), heated side mirrors, wiper de-icers, automatic climate control, a 7-inch digital gauge display, LED headlights, and 18-inch aluminum wheels.
2023 Solterra Limited — MSRP From $49,720
Along with the Harman Kardon system and surround-view cameras, the Limited offers a leatherette interior with a 10-way power driver seat, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, an auto-dimming review mirror, and a universal home remote. The exterior receives a power liftgate, automatic wipers, roof rails, a rear spoiler, LED fog lights, and 20-inch wheels.
2023 Solterra Touring — MSRP From $53,220
The Touring adds a fixed glass roof with power sunshade, ventilated front seats, illuminated interior trim, LED footwell lighting, and available two-tone exterior paint ($890).

The 2023 Subaru Solterra in Premium trim offers a bit longer range, but the thoroughly equipped Limited is clearly the better buy. In our view, the only compelling reason to spring for the Limited is the cool glass roof.
