2023 Volkswagen ID.4 - Exclusive Ashburn New Car Discounts

The 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 expands its trim lineup with a new base trim with a smaller less-expensive battery pack and a new premium trim. The base trims now feature a 12-inch infotainment display with a revised operating system and additional safety features while interior material upgrades, color schemes, and new standard features are found across the trim range. The 2023 model also marks the beginning of production at the Tennessee manufacturing plant.

The 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 is offered in four trims; Standard / Pro, S, and Pro S Plus, and prices range from $38,790 to $51,240.

The ID.4 now offers a base battery pack (62 kWh) alongside last year’s 82 kWh unit in the Pro models — now a $5,000 option — and is available in the Standard and S trims.

A rear-axle motor is standard (on both non-Pro and Pro) and produces 201 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque while all-wheel-drive models (a $3,800 option) utilize a front-axle motor for a total of 295 horsepower and 339 pound-feet. The battery pack is made in Tennessee while the drivetrain and control components are made in Germany.

The standard powertrain earns an EPA-estimated range of 209 miles which increases to 275 miles in Pro form. The all-wheel drive versions ride 0.8-inches higher while the range is lessened to 255 miles. The smaller battery pack cannot be paired with all-wheel drive

The Standard and S models with the base battery pack can accept a 140-KW charging rate and the Pro models can now receive a rate of up to 170 KW. Both batteries can be recharged from 10%-80% in 30 minutes under ideal circumstances at a DC Fast charger. At home, on a Level-2 charger, the ID.4 can take up to 7.5 hours to fully recharge.

To provide more incentive to go on long road trips, Electrify America and Volkswagen offer free 30-minute charging sessions for three years.

The all-wheel-drive models can tow 2,700 pounds.

The 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 is about six inches shorter than the Ford Mustang Mach-E and even a couple of inches shy of the Ioniq 5. It is also narrower than both. Compared to the competition, the ID.4 trades rear legroom (37.6 inches) for cargo space (30.3 cubic feet) with a maximum capacity of 64.2 cubic feet with the seats folded.

The ID.4 is standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist (new for 2023) detection, blind-spot detection, adaptive cruise control, lane centering with lane change assist (new for 2023), parking assist with reverse tracing (also new for 2023), front and rear parking sensors, high beam assist, and traffic sign recognition. The ID.4 also gains a new capacity-touch steering wheel.

A 12-inch touchscreen is now standard and features a revised menu structure, natural voice command, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and SiriusXM. Wireless charging, remote connectivity, and over-the-air update capability are also included and sound is produced through seven speakers.

The standard ID.4 is equipped with 19-inch wheels, LED daytime running lights and headlights, rain-sensing wipers, heated mirrors, and washer nozzles, flush door handles, proximity entry, a 5.3-inch digital gauge cluster, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and dual-zone climate control.

The heated seats feature more recycled-material content than last year and provide six-way manual adjustability for the driver. Models with all-wheel drive receive a heated windshield.

The S trim receives 20-inch wheels, adaptive LED headlights, horizontal light bars across the front fascia and rear tailgate, illuminated front and rear VW logos, a panoramic sunroof with fabric sunshade, a hands-free power tailgate, synthetic leather perforated seats, a heated steering wheel, and a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory. There’s also a redesigned center console that incorporates additional USB power ports and new interior color schemes.

The top trim is distinguished by its unique 20-inch wheels, black roof panel and rear spoiler, silver C-pillars, roofline, roof rails, and bumper trim, power-folding mirrors with puddle lights, multi-color ambient interior lighting, and a surround-view monitor. The refreshed ID.4 gains a heated rear seat and a tri-zone climate control system.
