Ward's names its annual list of the best auto interiors, and the results may surprise you.

Ward's Automotive Group has released its list of the WardAuto 10 Best Interiors of 2013, giving special recognition to those new car models from a variety of segments that are either all-new or sport interiors that have been significantly reworked. From sub-$15,000 budget subcompacts to large luxury sedans, the list proves that a useful, comfortable interior need not come with a hefty price tag.

Ward's editors considered 46 vehicle interiors, selecting those that, regardless of price point, offer the best mix of “materials, ergonomics, comfort, safety, value, fit-and-finish and overall design”, as well as the “user-friendliness of the human-machine interface and the ability to link mobile phones and access vehicle information.”

WardsAuto 10 Best Interiors of 2013:

Acura MDX Interior
2013 Acura RDX (Honda Motor Co. Ltd.)

Cadillac CTS Interior
2013 Cadillac XTS (General Motors Co.)

Chevrolet Spark Interior
2013 Chevrolet Spark (General Motors Co.)

Hyundai Santa Fe Interior
2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport (Hyundai Motor Co. Ltd.)

Kia Forte Interior
2014 Kia Forte (Kia Motors Corp.)

Lexus GS 450h
2013 Lexus GS 450h (Toyota Motor Corp.)

Mazda6 Interior
2014 Mazda6 (Mazda Motor Corp.)

Nissan Pathfinder Interior
2013 Nissan Pathfinder (Nissan Motor Co. Ltd.)

Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn Interior
2013 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn (Chrysler Group LLC.)

Nissan Pathfinder Interior
2013 Toyota Avalon (Toyota Motor Corp.)

As you can see, there's five Japanese, two South Korean and three American cars on the list, with General Motors and Toyota the lone automakers to receive two mentions. Quizzically, not a single European luxury car, or any European car for that matter, has been included.

A refreshing design is nice and all, but think about it: you'll spend far more time looking at your car's interior than at its clean exterior lines. Any of the cars on this list can be considered a stand-out for going above and beyond in creating the best interior that can be had for the price.
