2013 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid Overview

The Escalade debuted in 1999, but its fuel economy and carbon footprint turned off many eco-friendly buyers. Armed with this knowledge, Cadillac released the Escalade Hybrid for the 2009 model year, giving it a leg up on the competition. Though this model has never been especially popular, it certainly fits the bill for a small percentage of SUV buyers.

The 2013 model year is a carryover for the entire Escalade lineup, meaning the Hybrid model carries all of the same features as the 2012 model. The 2013 Escalade Hybrid comes in a pair of trim levels: Base and Platinum. The Base includes plenty of premium features like leather upholstery, a Bose surround-sound system and Bluetooth connectivity. The Platinum trim level adds to the already-loaded Base with an Aniline leather interior, LED headlights and an upgraded DVD entertainment system for the kids in the rear.

Both trim levels come standard with a 6-liter V-8 engine and a pair of 60 kW electric motors inside the transmission. This setup cranks out 332 horsepower and 367 pound-feet of torque, and nets the Escalade Hybrid 20 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. Rear-wheel drive is standard on this luxury hybrid, but available all-wheel drive won't negatively affect fuel economy.
