Where are Buick Cars Built?

July 17, 2014

Buick is the last of GM's four surviving brands from the bankruptcy restructuring of 2009. The three other brands are Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac. Buick is an entry-level luxury brand, slotted below Cadillac, but above Chevrolet. Founded in 1903 by a man named David Dunbar Buick, it is also the oldest American automobile company still in existence today. A title that it took from Oldsmobile after its demise in 2004. Current Buick product offerings consist of the Enclave crossover-utility vehicle (CUV), the mid-size Lacrosse sedan, and the flagship full-size Lucerne sedan, which starts below $40k with the Super package.

  • The Lucerne is built at GM's Detroit/Hamatrack Assembly in Detroit, Michigan
  • The 2010 Lacrosse is being built at the Fairfax Assembly plant in Fairfax, Kansas. Past models, those from 2005-2009, were built at the Oshawa, Ontario plant.
  • The Enclave crossover, which replaced the Rendezvous SUV and Terraza minivan in 2008, is being manufactured at the Lansing Delta Township Assembly plant, in Delta Township, Michigan.

There is also a new Chinese-market Buick Regal that went on sale in November 2008. The car is coming to American shores in 2010 as well as a 2011 model, and it will be manufactured at the Oshawa Assembly plant in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. The Regal will slot just below the Lacrosse as the entry-level sedan for Buick. There are rumors of a Grand Sport version of the new Regal for 2012, debuting as a wagon, which would revive one of Buick's most well-known performance nameplates.

Do GM Dealerships Offer the Lowest Prices on Buick Replacement Parts?

When it comes to Buick replacement parts, GM dealerships do not give the best prices. Car dealerships have always been known to charge an arm and a leg for the simplest of parts, and GM dealerships are no exception. There are a lot of other stores that sell the same OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts at a fraction of the cost. A lot of these stores are able to give competitive prices to customers and offer the same quality as that found at the dealership. All you have to do is go online and search for stores that carry your desired part and compare the prices. When looking for Buick replacement parts, getting them from the dealership is therefore not recommended unless absolutely necessary.

Does Buick Make a Hybrid Vehicle?

As of the moment, there are no Buick hybrid vehicles yet available commercially. However, this concept has been envisioned since 2009 and it is no surprise that the company has just recently announced that a new Buick plug-in automobile would be available this 2011. It would incorporate a battery powered engine which could be driven very efficiently for 10 miles at low speed. This car would therefore be perfect for situations such as heavy traffic or when you're just cruising home from a hard day. All you have to do is plug it in when you get home. Which Buick Minivan has the Highest Safety Rating?

The Buick minivan with the highest safety rating is the 2007 Terraza. It first came out on 2005 and had standard safety features already. However, since safety standards are increasing every year, it was not long before it gradually laffed behind its competitors in terms of overall safety features and crash tests. However, the 2007 model, which was the last model Buick came out with this minivan, exceeded expectations and has a lot of new safety features that the first Terrazas didn't have, such as the electronic stability control. This Buick minivan was able to establish itself again in terms of safety and reliability before being dropped the year after.
