There are many vehicles that offer the most horsepower per dollar. Horsepower is an important component for performance, but is also very important for those heavy duty vehicles that act as work horses and can get the job done.

  1. 2010 Cadillac CTS-V Sedan: This Cadillac is packed with horsepower, with a horsepower per dollar rate of $124.46/hp. Under the hood is a supercharged V8 engine. This is a luxury four door sedan that is much less expensive than other vehicles in its class that have less power.
  2. 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8: This is a 2-door coupe that carries on the tradition of Mopar muscle cars. It offers $110.58/hp with a total combines horsepower ranking of 425 hp. This is a rear wheel drive vehicle that makes it one of the best buys for performance vehicles.
  3. 2010 Mazda Mazdaspeed 3: This car is one of the few that only contains 4 cylinders, but still gives you 1 hp for $125.46. The engine is turbocharged so the driver can get about 263 hp from 2.3 liters. While the total horsepower is less than others, this is an extremely affordable and drivable vehicle.
  4. 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8: This is a 2-door version of the companies very first pony car. It follows the design template of the original Ford Mustang. So the car provides plenty of performance without the huge price tag. Expect to pay $107.83/hp. This vehicle is rated the same as the Mazdaspeed 3, but provides a much better value per horsepower.

This is the one of the only vehicles that provides more than 500hp in total with the rate of $107.27/hp. This makes it the most horsepower in the world vehicle in its class. Unlike many other high horsepower vehicles, this one is priced far under its competitors at about $60,000.

The V6 offers 306 hp with a 3.7 liter engine and the V8 offers 426 hp with a 6.2 liter engine. So on average, the Camaro offers some of the best value for horsepower per dollar at $87.91/hp. This is a much better deal then all of the rival vehicles from other automobile manufacturers.
  7. 2010 Dodge Charger SRT8: This latest model offers quite a lot for the price, though it supposedly is going to be refreshed in the next release. It is a four door, five seat sedan that offers $101.65/hp. The total horsepower 420 hp is just 5 hp less than the V8 engine option. However the V6 is priced much lower than the V8.
  8. 2011 Ford Mustang: This is the least expensive car for horsepower per dollar at $85.85/hp. This offers the most horsepower engine per dollar when it was originally released about 50 years ago, and it still offers that same value and power today. It contains a total of 412 hp, but is sold for around $38,000, making it much more affordable than most other cars in the same hp range.
