For those who enjoy driving fast cars in a safe manner, a race car driving school is a great experience. There are several available throughout the country. Among them:

Regarded by many as the best driving school is Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving. Bondurant began in 1968 and offers several race driving classes, plus security and military driving courses. The Bondurant Introduction to Racing class takes one day and costs $1,375. From there, drivers can choose between Advanced Road Racing or Advanced Formula Road Racing. Each takes one to 3 days and costs between $2,350 and $5,850. Other choices are Grand Prix Specialty, taking 2 days at $3,395, plus Grand Prix Road Racing which takes 3-4 days and costs $4,250 to $4,795.

The Dale Jarrett Racing Adventure is held at various NASCAR tracks around the country on real NASCAR race cars. Dale Jarrett is priced according to how many laps around the track, ranging from $145 for 3 laps to $3,595 for a 60-lap run around the Talladega Superspeedway.

FAASST Performance Driving School is accredited by the Sports Car Club of America and the National Auto Sport Association. Drivers must provide their own cars, but FAASST provides race car rental packages. For beginners, the Bronze package covers half-day instruction and track fee for $425 to $525. The Silver package for aspiring competition drivers runs a full day for $695 to $895, and awards a high performance competition certificate. The Gold package is for racing licence preparation, requiring a race-ready car that meets SCCA requirements, and goes for $795 to $995.

There are some auto driving schools that teach high performance driving, but learning from a specialized race car driving school provides the best value for the money.
