2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV

The number of electric pickup trucks on sale continues to grow, as automakers introduce new options. Shoppers looking to purchase an EV may find themselves cross-shopping the Tesla Cybertruck to the Chevrolet Silverado EV.

In this comparison, we’ll explore how the Chevrolet Silverado EV stacks up against the Tesla Cybertruck when it comes to price, size, specifications, range, technology, towing capacity, and off-road capability. In the end, we’ll name a winner to help you make an informed buying decision.

Chevy Silverado EV vs. Tesla Cybertruck Price

Tesla Cybertruck

The Chevrolet Silverado EV prices start at $96,495 for the First-Edition RST model. Cheaper Silverado EV models are expected to come out in the future, but Chevrolet has not confirmed pricing for those trims yet. At the moment, Tesla offers the Cybertruck in two different trims.

The cheapest Tesla Cybertruck is the dual-motor All-Wheel Drive model that has an estimated price tag of $79,990 and the most expensive Tesla Cybertruck is the Cyberbeast which has an estimated price of $99,990. Tesla does not provide full pricing information for the Cybertruck nor does it share information on the destination fee for the vehicle.

There’s an estimated price difference of $16,505 between the Silverado EV and Cybertruck with the latter option being the cheaper choice of the two. Comparing the range-topping Cybertruck to the Silverado EV reveals a price difference of $3,495 with the Chevy being more affordable.

Shoppers will find that Chevrolet’s lease deals and purchase deals are better for the Silverado EV than the ones that Tesla offers with the Cybertruck.

Chevy Silverado EV vs. Tesla Cybertruck Size

Tesla Cybertruck Cargo Space

Both the Chevrolet Silverado EV and Tesla Cybertruck are full-size electric pickup trucks. The Silverado EV is 233.1 inches long, 83.8 inches wide, and 78.7 inches tall. The Silverado EV has a 5-foot-11-inch bed with an innovative midgate design and a multi-function tailgate that allows it to hold items that are 10 feet-10-inches long.

The Cybertruck is 223.7 inches long, 80 inches wide, and 69.1 inches long. The Cybertruck’s bed is six feet long but is only four feet wide and because of the design of the truck, the bed can’t hold large cargo as well as the Silverado EV.

Chevy Silverado EV vs. Tesla Cybertruck Specs & Range

Tesla Cybertruck Wheels

The Chevrolet Silverado EV is available in a single trim that features dual electric motors with up to 754 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is standard, as is adaptive air suspension and rear-wheel steering. Chevrolet claims the Silverado EV can get to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and has up to 440 miles of range.

The base Tesla Cybertruck All-Wheel Drive model has dual electric motors and standard AWD. This version of the truck has 600 hp and 7,435 lb-ft of torque, which is a misleading figure. The range-topping Cyberbeast has three electric motors with 845 hp and 10,296 lb-ft of torque (another misleading figure).

The Cybertruck All-Wheel Drive has a range of up to 340 miles and can get to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds. The top-of-the-line Cyberbeast can get to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds and has 320 miles of range.

Chevy Silverado EV vs. Tesla Cybertruck Technology

2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV Dashboard

With Chevrolet only offering the Silverado EV in its priciest configuration at the time of launch, the pickup truck comes with an impressive roster of tech equipment. The Silverado EV comes with an 11-inch digital instrument cluster, a 17.7-inch touchscreen, a wireless charging pad, a Bose seven-speaker audio system, Google built-in a 14-inch head-up display, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Every Tesla Cybertruck, regardless of powertrain, comes with an 18.5-inch touchscreen, a 9.4-inch rear touchscreen, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and satellite radio. Tesla does not share a full list of the Cybertruck’s features.

Chevy Silverado EV vs. Tesla Cybertruck Towing Capacity

2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV Towing

When properly equipped, the Chevrolet Silverado EV can tow up to 10,00 pounds and has a payload capacity of up to 1,440 pounds. In comparison, the Tesla Cybertruck can tow up to 11,000 pounds and has a payload capacity of up to 2,500 pounds.

Chevy Silverado EV vs. Tesla Cybertruck Off-Road Capability

Neither the Chevrolet Silverado EV nor the Tesla Cybertruck are great off-roaders. Of the two, the Cybertruck is the most capable option with unique off-road modes, locking differentials, up to 17 inches of ground clearance, 35-inch mud tires, and adaptive Bilstein shocks. Unfortunately, in the real world, the Cybertruck’s enormous size, design, and heavy reliance on tech stop it from being a capable off-roader.

The Silverado EV is a road-oriented electric pickup. It does come with air suspension and AWD, but its enormous 24-inch wheels, enormous bumpers, and road tires stop it from being able to tackle rough terrain.

Silverado EV vs. Cybertruck: Which Is Better?

The Tesla Cybertruck is a cultural phenomenon. Shoppers are drawn to the Cybertruck because of its funky design and because it’s a Tesla. It will draw crowds and help boost likes on social media.

In the real world, it loses against the Chevrolet Silverado EV. The Cybertruck is cheaper than the Silverado EV and has more performance, but it trails behind in every other category.

The Silverado EV may not be as exciting as the Cybertruck, but it has more range, more user-friendly tech features, and more innovative features that make it a better pickup.
