Drivers currently leasing a Nissan Rogue may have a good reason to upgrade this month. Even though rebates on the redesigned 2021 Rogue remain lousy across much of the country, a dealer incentive bulletin reveals that current Rogue lessees may qualify for a $1,500 loyalty discount for choosing the latest model.
While you won't see it advertised on Nissan's website, the brand is offering a special discount called Rogue To Rogue Lease Loyalty. It's worth $1,500 and can be combined with other lease incentives. Here in California, you can stack it with $700 in factory lease cash for as much as $2,200 in potential savings.
To put that into perspective, the rebate for buying the Rogue is worth just $500. Since the loyalty discount is limited to leases, this could make leasing considerably better than buying. Although offers will most likely improve over time, the incentive could make the SUV more affordable just in time for the holidays.
Having said that, 2021 Rogue lease prices remain high across much of the country. Here in Southern California, the Rogue S with all-wheel-drive is listed at $229 for 36 months with $4,259 at signing. That's not too bad considering early leases for the next-generation Rogue actually made it more expensive than a Murano.
Still, with an effective cost of $347/month, the Rogue costs more than both the 2020 Honda CR-V LX ($310) and 2021 Toyota RAV4 LE ($330). However, the loyalty discount could help lower its cost for those who qualify. The new Rogue gets better fuel economy and starts just $160 higher compared to the previous year.
That said, shoppers should be aware that Nissan recently cut its advertised mileage allowances on Rogue leases down to 10,000 miles per year in line with other models in the lineup. While this has resulted in lower payments, shoppers should consider the possibility that they may not be getting more for their money.
Current Nissan offers end on January 4, 2021.
