Ford's highly anticipated 2022 Bronco Raptor has an MSRP of nearly $70,000, according to a recent report from Motor1. The publication confirmed with a Ford representative that the 4-door, 400-horsepower off-roading SUV will have a starting price of $69,995 including destination when it goes on sale this spring.
Based on our analysis, the new Ford Bronco Raptor will be significantly less expensive than a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392. The 470-horsepower Rubicon 392 has an MSRP of $78,690, making the Bronco Raptor nearly $8,700 cheaper to buy. So will the Raptor be a better deal? That remains to be seen.
Ford will start taking orders for the Bronco Raptor in March 2022, with the first SUVs arriving this summer. However, given the fact that Bronco production has been hit by delays and high dealer price markups, we think there's a strong likelihood that Bronco Raptor buyers may end up paying well over MSRP.
Ford recently introduced Bronco price protection to compensate customers with an unfulfilled order for a 2021 model given a variety of price increases for 2022. Ford's Raptor models are also excluded from incentives. As a result, shoppers shouldn't expect to see Bronco Raptor deals for buying or leasing.
At $69,995, the Bronco Raptor will be $19,025 more expensive than the Wildtrak trim (MSRP $50,970), making it the most expensive Bronco you can buy. With race-inspired capabilities and a raucous 400-hp engine, it could be worth the wait for those looking to buy the most powerful factory Bronco ever built.
Later this month, Ford will roll out an "inventory reframing" strategy that will reduce the number of certain vehicle configurations stocked at dealers by as much as 80%. Interestingly, the Bronco will be unaffected. That could be because the Bronco remains a hot commodity amid a major inventory shortage.
