The all-new Toyota Tundra has considerably better residual values than the Ford F-150. According to dealer leasing bulletins, the redesigned Tundra has up to an 85% residual value on certain configurations, potentially offering a major advantage for those planning to compare lease prices with Ford's flagship pickup truck.

Based on our analysis, the 2022 Tundra with the best residual value is the entry-level SR CrewMax at 85% based on a 24-month lease and 12,000 miles per year. A 36-month lease brings that down to 79%. Meanwhile, the best residual on the 2022 F-150 is 73% on a 24-month lease but only on the priciest PowerBoost hybrids.

Given the fact that higher residual values typically mean better leases, this could make the 2022 Tundra a good truck to lease. However, we think it's worth pointing out that it's just one factor that can determine how good a lease ends up being apart from the selling price, the money factor, and any manufacturer lease cash.

While the 2022 Tundra does have an APR deal, it doesn't have any special lease rates or lease cash to help bring down the price. Although Toyota's pickups are generally known for having high residual values, a closer look finds that the redesigned Tundra will have a big advantage compared to the outgoing generation.

For example, the 2021 Tundra with the best residual value is the TRD Pro at 78% based on a 24-month lease, or 72% on a 36-month contract. Toyota hasn't published residuals yet for the 2022 Tundra TRD Pro, but it could be exceptionally high since it'll be a limited-production truck that already has up to a 1.5-year wait.

Even though Toyota dealers are already taking 2022 Tundra reservations, the challenge for shoppers could simply be finding one willing to sell the truck without a dealer markup. Although we don't have estimated lease payments yet for the 2022 Tundra, its high residual values could be a sign that it'll be a good truck to lease.

Current Toyota incentives end on November 30th.
