Kia is already offering up to a $2,800 discount on the 2023 Stinger ahead of its release. The new incentive comes less than a week after news broke about an alleged decision by Kia to discontinue the sporty sedan. For those looking to buy the latest Stinger, new financing and lease deals could present an opportunity.
According to a dealer incentive bulletin, 2023 Stingers already have a financing deal involving 1.9% APR for up to 48 months. The deal was added yesterday, and offers 60 and 72-month financing options at 2.75% and 3.75% APR, too. There's even an 84-month financing deal at a higher rate of 4.75% through May 31st.
Interestingly, these interest rates are only marginally higher than 2022 Stinger deals, which start at 1.49% APR for 48 months. Having said that, leasing offers the best discounts on the Stinger. Unlike other vehicle brands, Kia's lease discounts vary by trim, and the best deals are on the higher-performance Stinger GT2.
For example, 24-month leases on the GT2 offer a $2,500 lease cash incentive, though you can score a $2,800 discount when choosing the all-wheel-drive variant. Cheaper versions of the 2023 Stinger offer less than half the savings, with $1,200 in lease cash on the GT-Line, or $1,650 on the all-wheel-drive configuration.
Sadly, a more traditional 36-month Stinger lease offers significantly less savings. With the entry-level Stinger GT-Line, there is no lease cash whatsoever, though the AWD version offers $400. Here, leasing a GT2 lacks the same advantage as a 24-month lease, with a paltry $350 on the RWD car and $500 off the AWD model.
For some shoppers, a 24-month Stinger lease could represent a "sweet spot" in terms of savings. In addition, a higher residual value as high as 68% may make a 24-month lease a better deal than a 36-month lease which maxes out at 62% based on a 10,000-mile-per-year contract. However, there may be another obstacle.
Kia buyers haven't been immune from a global chip shortage, and dealer markups could make Stingers a bad deal. While there may be manufacturer incentives on the 2023 Stinger, your ability to avoid a dealer markup may be limited. This could present a confusing contradiction for buyers simply trying to get a fair price.
