The Chevy Blazer EV may have a secret way to score a lower payment. According to a bulletin sent to dealers, GM is offering a special program called RightChoice that offers the low monthly payment of a lease with the ability to claim a $7,500 tax credit. However, we found an important limitation worth knowing about.

Through April 30th, the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV has a special program called GM Financial RightChoice that involves balloon financing. Only EVs are eligible for the incentive, with the deal offering some head-turning payment examples. As we reported earlier today, the Bolt RightChoice deal starts at just $253 per month.

With the Bolt EV, Chevy says that's half the payment of a lease. RightChoice is available with 36 or 48-month terms in every state except Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and Washington D.C. As far as we can tell, Chevy isn't advertising the RightChoice option on the 2024 Blazer EV anywhere on its website.

Consumers have three options with balloon financing at the end of the contract: keep the car and pay a "balloon payment," trade-in or sell the car, or transfer the vehicle back to the lender. However, unlike a lease, the buyer can claim the $7,500 federal tax credit on the Blazer EV to help lower the monthly payment.

Unfortunately, Chevy hasn't published Blazer EV RightChoice prices so you'll need to see your dealer for details. As a result, we don't have enough info to say just how much better Blazer EV balloon financing may be compared to a lease. Earlier this month, Chevy cut Blazer EV lease prices by around $200 a month.

There's also an important limitation. Not all Blazer EVs are eligible for the tax credit. That's because GM lost the credit back in January and only recently got it back after making manufacturing changes. You'll probably see a mix of inventory, though ineligible vehicles do get $7,500 in Ultium Promise Bonus Cash.

Still, if you'd like to have every tool at your disposal to get a deal, Blazer EV RightChoice pricing may be worth looking into. We aren't able to say whether or not balloon financing can cut the Blazer EV's $469 lease payment in half. But there's a possibility that it may be the key to getting a better deal than you think.
