Chevy is paying Bolt drivers up to $3,000 to buy the all-new Equinox EV. According to a bulletin sent to dealers, owners & lessees of a 2017 or newer Bolt may be able to score a special targeted offer on the 2024 Equinox EV. This represents an unusually generous Bolt loyalty discount that you won't find on other GM EVs.

Through April 30th, the "24 Equinox EV Private Offer" offers 2017 or newer Bolt and Bolt EUV owners and lessees a $3,000 discount when leasing the all-electric Equinox or financing at a special rate through GM Financial. If you're buying your Equinox EV but aren't financing, the discount dips slightly to $2,500 off MSRP.

With $3,000 in savings, the cheapest Chevy Equinox EV could start at just $31,995. However, that's based on the MSRP of $34,995 for the entry-level LT trim that won't arrive until much later in 2024. Chevy is currently taking reservations for the 2LT and 3LT configurations which start at $43,295 and $45,295, respectively.

What's odd is that Chevy's Bolt loyalty discount isn't available on the larger Blazer EV. The Blazer was subject to a stop-sale due to software problems and only recently became eligible again for a $7,500 tax credit. Having said that, we think both vehicles could represent questionable value propositions for shoppers.

Until the 1LT trim arrives, the cheapest Equinox EV will be the 2LT ($43,295). Meanwhile, the Blazer EV LT starts at $48,800. That's a price difference of about $5,500. What's more, Chevy cut Blazer EV lease payments by over $200 last month. However, a slew of automakers have bargain-basement prices on EVs.

For example, the 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5 can now be leased for just $209 for 24 months with $3,499 due at signing. In Southern California, the 2024 Hyundai Kona EV is listed at $164 per month with $2,004 at signing. With the current Bolt getting discontinued, Chevy may lose the price war when it comes to electric cars.
