VinFast is suddenly losing the price war with its all-electric VF 8. Based on the latest incentives, 2024 VinFast VF 8 lease deals are nearly 70% more expensive than they were a month ago. This could give buyers a good reason to wait or to lease a completely different vehicle amid a surge in competition among EV leases.

The 2024 VinFast VF 8 Eco is currently listed at $429 for 36 months with just $1,124 due at signing. This is actually a zero-down lease deal that requires the first month's payment and an acquisition fee of $695. The offer is based on an MSRP of $47,200 including destination and has an allowance of 10,000 miles a year.

For a $47,000 EV, $429 per month may seem like a pretty good deal. However, it's nowhere near as affordable as it was before. Back in January, VinFast introduced a $249 per month, $944 due at signing lease on the 2023 VF 8. At the time, our analysis found this made it the cheapest vehicle to lease in America.

Previously, the VF 8 lease had $22,849 in discounts off MSRP. Now, VinFast is offering just $5,503 in lease cash. Through February, the EV had an effective cost of $275 per month before taxes and fees. Now, it's $460 when factoring in the payment and amount due at signing. That's a difference of about $185 per month.

After VF 8 lease pricing went up in March, a slew of crazy deals have emerged. On March 15th, Hyundai began offering a $213 IONIQ 5 lease with $3,480 at signing. Less than a week later, the IONIQ 6 followed suit with a $239 lease deal with no money down. As it stands, the IONIQ 6 remains the cheapest car to lease.

But that's not all. This week, 2024 Mustang Mach-E prices were cut by $6,000. And just today, Fisker slashed Ocean base pricing down to just under $25,000. These all represent significant opportunities to save and leave us wondering if VinFast will respond with another crazy lease deal to help turn some more heads.
