2025 Nissan LEAF Is A Pretty Bad Deal

2025 Nissan LEAF side profile

Nissan recently revealed the latest iteration of the LEAF. That's somewhat of a misnomer, as the venerable EV soldiers on unchanged for the 2025 model year. 2025 LEAFs have yet to arrive at dealer lots, but Nissan is already offering them with incentives. Here's what you need to know about the initial 2025 Nissan LEAF deals.

Nissan isn't offering the newest LEAF with any promotional lease deals yet, but that's not surprising given where we are in the model year. However, a recent dealer bulletin from Nissan revealed introductory money factors and financing rates.

Unfortunately, we're not expecting the 2025 LEAF to be a standout lease value in the early goings. Nissan is offering it with a promotional money 36-month factor of 0.00124, which translates to a lease rate of just under 3%. That's not bad, but the 2024 model is currently offered with a money factor of 0.00063, which works out to a lease rate of about 1.5%.

The 2024 LEAF S 40 kWh can be leased in most of the country for $259 per month over 36 months with $2,259 due at signing. The effective monthly cost of $322 sounds pretty good relative to the LEAF's $29,810 MSRP, but there are plenty of more competitive EV lease deals right now.

You can even lease the $45,000 2023 Nissan Ariya ENGAGE 63 kWh for $149 per month over 18 months with $3,959 due at signing, which adds up to a $369 effective monthly cost.

If you're looking for something closer in size to the LEAF, consider the Hyundai IONIQ 6. You can lease the 2024 SEL RWD model for just $289 per month over 24 months with $1,999 due at signing. The $372 effective monthly cost is impressive $372 at an MSRP of $46,400.

The 2025 LEAF's initial APR offer of 4.2% for up to 36 months and 5.2% for up to 48 months isn't particularly inspiring either. The 2024 model's rates of 3.9% for up to 36 months and 4.9% for up to 60 months are an improvement but aren't very competitive when considering the plethora of EVs available with 0% financing, namely the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Volkswagen ID.4, Hyundai IONIQ 5, Kia EV6, Subaru Solterra, and Nissan's own Ariya.
