Dodge Challenger coupe red color rear view

We just made up a new phrase: retro-frugal. In some parts of the country, cars like the Dodge Challenger can be significantly cheaper to buy than the Toyota Corolla. Here's a look at how it may be possible to get a killer deal on a car that may be a bit more fun than you might expect for under $23,000 right now.

At a dealer in Huntington Beach, California, the 2023 Dodge Challenger is listed for as little as $22,800. That's based on an MSRP of $33,530 and factors in a dealer discount of $7,700 and a manufacturer rebate of $3,030. As CarsDirect reported earlier this month, Challengers have a $10-per-horsepower discount.

While the Dodge Power Dollars discount is $3,030 off due to the car's 303-horsepower V6, the dealer discount brings the total savings amount to $10,730. That's a whopping 32% off MSRP. The dealer's website currently lists 111 Challengers in stock — 38 of which are SXT models — many of which are priced around $25,000.

2024 Toyota Corolla markup at Roseville Toyota

To put that into perspective, a Toyota dealer in Roseville, California has a $2,000 markup on every Corolla they have in stock. The dealer's cheapest Corolla listing is for an SE trim at $27,936 after the markup. While it isn't fair to compare prices like this from different regions, it does serve to show how far your money can go.

Challenger buyers should know that Dodge is also offering 0% financing for 72 months but only as a standalone offer that can't be combined with the Dodge Power Dollars rebate. Since the APR deal is limited to the SXT trim, buyers of higher trims may be able to benefit from more savings with the Power Dollars incentive.
