In a curious last-minute shift, Nissan has resumed offering deals on 5 models. The move comes nearly a month after the brand abruptly took away rebates and APR deals without explanation, resulting in price increases of up to $4,000.

The changes take effect today but are only good through April 30. Affected models include the 2018 Versa Sedan, Maxima, Murano, Pathfinder and Armada. In most cases, financing rates have improved considerably.

Here's a look at some of the changes.

Examples are based on offers here on the West Coast.

Nissan Versa Sedan

Current offer: $1,000 in bonus cash.

Our take: Although something is better than nothing, America's most affordable car was eligible for as much as $2,000 in rebates just last month. As usual, there are no financing or lease incentives to speak of.

Nissan Maxima

Current offer: Up to $2,500 in rebates or 0% APR for 60 months.

Our take: Compared to last month, that's a $500 increase in rebates. However, a $500 bonus that used to be available on top of the 0% offer has disappeared.

Nissan Pathfinder

Current offer: Up to $2,000 cash or 0% APR for 60 months.

Our take: Rebates are down from $2,500 back in March. However, the financing offer is a big improvement over last month's 1.9% for 36 months plus $500 bonus.

Nissan Murano

Current offer: Up to $2,000 in rebates or 0% APR for 60 months.

Our take: Cashback is down slightly from last month's $2,500. Previously, those looking to finance were only eligible for 0% APR for 36 months plus $500 cash.

Nissan Armada

Current offer: Now up to $3,500 in rebates or 0% APR for 60 months plus $1,000.

Our take: Rebates are down from last month's $4,000, but financing is a bit more appealing compared to the previous offer of 0% for 36 months plus $1,500 cash. But there's a catch.

The figures listed above and on Nissan's website include a $1,000 bonus you can only get when opting for the pricey Platinum style. If you're buying another version, your savings won't be as big.

If you're leasing, the Armada SV benefits from a $40/month cut in payment and now starts at $439/month. That's a solid improvement that can save you a lot of money over the life of the lease.
