Ford is offering a special Black Friday deal involving a $500 Amazon gift card in some parts of the country when buying or leasing a car. According to a bulletin sent to dealers in Arizona and California, the deal began last Friday and our analysis finds that it marks a notable shift from similar offers that we've seen in the past.

As part of the deal, shoppers can get the $500 Amazon card with just about any 2020 or 2021 car, truck, or SUV through November 30. Although you won't see it advertised yet on Ford's official website, even all-new vehicles like the 2021 F-150 are eligible. Even better, the promo can be stacked with most other offers.

For example, those in Phoenix can already get up to $3,000 off the new F-150 XLT plus rates as low as 2.9% APR. As we reported recently, Ford Credit is also offering a holiday promo involving no payments for 90 days. With the $500 gift card, that's $3,500 in savings plus low APR and the flexibility of deferred payments.

Ford gift card offers aren't all that common. In fact, the last one we have on record was from a year ago and limited to a 1-day deal on Black Friday here in California. To put that into perspective, Ford's latest deal is available for an entire 2 weeks. We think that's quite a big difference that can benefit shoppers.

Big brands have been offering early Black Friday sales and month-long deals like Employee Pricing from Chrysler and 0% APR for 84 months from GMC. While Ford's offer is quite broad, key exclusions involve the Ford Bronco (but not Bronco Sport), Mustang Mach-E, and 2021 Mustang GT (but not 2020 Mustang GT).

While a $500 Amazon card is certainly a nice bonus, bargain hunters should know that Ford typically shifts from Black Friday deals to its annual holiday promotions on December 3. Sadly, we don't yet know just how good those offers will be, especially given the fact that there's still a major inventory shortage at dealers.
