Shoppers waiting for a better deal on a 2015 Ford Focus or Focus ST have good news: Ford just doubled their cash incentive. Every model has its own timing from when initial rebates start heating up. For the 2015 Focus, that time is now.

Deal overview

Rebates on the 2015 Focus and Focus ST increased February 26 from $500 to $1,000 in most regions. Plus, if you lease a car or truck from a competing automaker, Ford has an extra $500 bonus increasing your total savings to $1,500 before dealer discounts. The offers are set to expire March 31, 2015.

Why you should consider the 2015 model

According to CarsDirect analysts, the updated 2015 model has been arriving steadily onto dealer lots. Outgoing 2014 models are still in good supply, but shoppers wanting the latest-and-greatest may want to seriously consider the 2015 model.

For 2015, the exterior has been refined with a bolder design resembling the larger Ford Fusion. Inside, a standard rear view camera lends additional assurance when parking.

The Focus also gets Ford's award-winning 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine for the first time. Initially only available on the 2015 Fiesta, the $795 option is marketed as a more fuel-efficient choice. We expect the option will have limited appeal for most shoppers since it is only available with a manual transmission.

Our take

We think this is a good deal for shoppers who have been on the fence about choosing the 2015 model. Rebates will certainly get better eventually, but likely not within the next 30-60 days.
