A website error has caused Ford's prices for the 2022 Mustang Mach-E to skyrocket. Based on our analysis, prices for the latest version of the brand's popular new electric SUV are up to $132/month more expensive than the previous year. However, a Ford spokesperson has confirmed the EV is a much better deal than it looks.
Since at least last Friday, Ford has been showing an estimated payment of $697 for 36 months with $4,290 due at signing for the company's "lease-like" balloon financing choice called Ford Options Plan. That equates to an effective cost of $816/month for the cheapest Mach-E, a massive year-over-year price increase.
Fortunately, Ford spokesperson Beverly Thacker confirmed for us that the 2022 Mach-E doesn't actually cost over $800/month. For reference, the 2021 Mach-E was listed at $565 with $4,290 at signing, or $684/month. That's a difference of $132/month, a significant amount of money comparing one year to the next.
Ms. Thacker added that the brand is "working to get it corrected ASAP." Now that the Mach-E has a 20-week minimum wait, with as long as a 28-week wait on GT trims, the brand is having buyers place orders for the 2022 Mach-E. On the plus side, Ford has maintained the Mach-E's starting price of $43,995 with destination.
One major downside for current buyers is that Ford has told its dealers that certain 2021-model-year orders have been delayed to such an extent that it will offer the same discounts on its 2022 vehicle lineup. Alternatively, the brand is offering those unable to wait a $2,000 cash incentive on existing inventory.
