General Motors today announced an unusual holiday promotion to clear the oldest 15% of its nationwide inventory on four Chevrolet models: Impala, Camaro, Cruze and Sonic. Dubbed the GM Year End Event, it chops 20% from the MSRP of qualifying 2014 and 2015 vehicles in lieu of standard rebates.
Potential savings skyrocket past usual incentives to nearly $6,000 on Impalas; around the $5,000 mark for Camaros; about $4,000 for the Cruze; and near $3,500 for the Sonic.
Eligibility is determined by a car's VIN—vehicle identification number—and available inventory will vary from dealer to dealer. Buyers looking for a 2014 Cruze or 2014 Impala will have the easiest time getting the discount since CarsDirect analysts report still-abundant supplies of the compact and full-size sedans in most regions.
The GM Year End Event runs through January 2, 2015, but program rules can change over the course of the month, so shoppers should check with local dealers for information about eligible inventory.
