It's no surprise that the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is a consistent head-turner with its unique styling and rally-inspired engineering. However, what is surprising to us is a rare deal we think will be the last of its kind before the model disappears into the horizon later this year.

Head-turning rebate

A modest $500 discount has been in place for several months on the 2014 Lancer Evolution, but that changed with this month's incentives. Documents from Mitsubishi reveal a head-turning $2,000 cash rebate on remaining 2014 models.

Don't expect to see this advertised on the automaker's website, however- it's only showing the 2015 model at this point. The deal is set to expire March 31.

A legend says goodbye

With Mitsubishi's decision to discontinue the "Evo" in favor of plug-in vehicles that get better fuel economy, it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect prices to rise when dealers start running out of the last 2015 models this summer.

On the other hand, outgoing 2014 models can still be found, but they're starting to sell out. If you're looking to score an outstanding deal, now may be your last chance.
