Kia Paying Dealers To Get Rid Of EVs

Kia is paying its dealers up to $1,500 for every EV sold in April. Based on a bulletin sent to dealers, Kia is using a sales tactic known as a retro program to issue flat payments to dealers in order to boost sales. This could help enable consumers to get an even better deal on a new Kia EV or plug-in hybrid this month.

Through April 30th, the Kia April 2024 Dealer Flat Cash Program will pay dealers $1,000 for every 2023 Kia EV6 sold. Interestingly, the brand is incentivizing sales of the higher-performance EV6 GT with an even larger payment of $1,500 for every one sold. The payments are retroactive to the first vehicles sold in April.

But that's not all. 2024 Kia EV6 models as well as the all-new EV9 are eligible for a $500 payment, while just about every other 2024 EV and plug-in hybrid in the lineup qualifies for an extra $250. Kia offers an impressive range of EVs and PHEVs at the moment, with the 2024 Niro EV ranking among the best lease deals.

So should you expect to get a bigger discount on a Kia EV? Not necessarily. This isn't a rebate that you'll see advertised. However, dealers have a big incentive to sell as many EVs as they can and be rewarded in a way that they can't with their gas models now. This could motivate some dealers to provide better prices.

The 2024 Kia EV6 is current one of the best EVs to lease with offers starting at $279 per month. As CarsDirect reported previously, Kia's EV9 purchase discount also increased to $7,500 off MSRP. For the first time, Kia also introduced 0% financing on the EV9, potentially signaling a big desire to sell as many as it can.
