Although residents in parts of Texas and Louisiana are still reeling from the effects of Hurricane Harvey, a handful of automakers are already stepping in to provide a small helping hand in the form of disaster relief discounts.

When the time comes to buy a replacement, those affected will be able to save some extra money and experience less hassle by taking advantage of special offers like Employee Pricing and deferred payments.

In some cases, we're seeing up to $750 in rebates toward new cars and trucks. One automaker is even offering discounts on used car inventory. That said, program rules and eligibility vary by automaker.

Here's a look at what's available at the moment. Offers are listed alphabetically by automaker and may be subject to change. This page will be updated as new programs are announced.

BMW Disaster Relief Program Added 9/13

What it is: Effective September 6, BMW Financial Services is offering a $500 Disaster Relief Credit on select Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicles. BMW has actually informed us there's also an incentive for new cars, but we're awaiting full information.

Eligibility: All 2014 and 2015 factory certified vehicles are eligible for this offer. This includes popular models like the X3, X5 and 3 Series. There are no apparent exclusions based on program documents.

Worth knowing: The offer can be combined with all other promotions. However, since the program is administered by BMW Financial, you'll need to finance your vehicle to claim the discount.

That's not necessarily a bad thing though. Well-qualified buyers may be eligible for APR as low as 0.9% for 24 months on all 2014-2015 CPO vehicles. That said, the term is rather short, so plan accordingly.

Expiration: The offer is set to expire January 2, 2018.

However, as of September 1, both brands have introduced a comprehensive assistance package called Texas Is Family involving Ford A-Plan Pricing and deferred payments until 2018.

A-Plan equates to Employee Pricing, and offers pre-negotiated prices and a more straightforward experience since you won't need to haggle with your local dealer.

Separately, Ford has doubled its First Responder discount in the Houston area from $500 to $1,000. It's available to groups like police, firefighters, paramedics, State Troopers and Federal Law Enforcement.

GM Disaster Relief Bonus Updated 9/01

Chevrolet Impala

What it is: On August 29, GM began offering a $500 discount to customers whose vehicles were damaged as a result of Hurricane Harvey. However, as of September 1 the automaker has doubled the amount to $1,000 and broadened its scope considerably.

Eligibility: As before, all new 2017 or 2018 Chevy, GMC, Buick or Cadillac vehicles are eligible. There are no major exclusions apart from the usual base models like the Malibu L, Colorado Base and Cruze L that dealers rarely carry in the first place.

The previous offer was only available to residents of select counties in Texas. However, this has been expanded to include larger areas of Texas and parts of Louisiana. Eligible areas in Texas now include: Austin, Beaumont, Corpus Cristi, Harlingen, Houston, Laredo, San Antonio, Victoria and Waco. Lake Charles, Louisiana is also eligible.

Interestingly, GM has removed the requirement to show a copy of an insurance claim form to get the discount. Based on the official bulletin, simply residing in one of the predefined areas is enough to get the extra savings. By removing the requirement, the automaker has arguably made it easier to access the discount.

Worth knowing: The offer can be combined with any other cashback and financing promotions, including GM Supplier Pricing. There's also one more positive development to note: unlike before, the offer can now be used with promotional lease offers.

Expiration: The offer is set to expire October 2, 2017.
