If you've been eagerly anticipating the 2016 Lexus RX 350, you're not alone. The posh luxury crossover has finally arrived, promising to impress with an all-new bold design. Deal hunters finally get their first lease offer, too. But is it really a good deal? And what are you getting for the money? Here's what you need to know.

Deal overview

This month's deal on the 2016 RX 350 with front-wheel drive is $439 per month for 36 months with $3,599 due at signing. It comes with a standard allowance of 10,000 miles per year.

Unfortunately, the new model doesn't benefit from this month's December to Remember promotion involving a complimentary 1st lease payment. The deal is set to expire January 4, 2016.

Deal analysis

As far as leases go, this isn't a bad deal- but it's far from great. Factoring the payment and amount due, the effective lease cost ends up being $539 per month, $73 more than this month's deal on the 2015 model. While it's easy to assume that newer means more expensive, a closer look reveals a bit more going on.

The 2015 RX is certainly a great deal, due largely to the fact that Lexus is offering $2,000 in lease discounts and is covering your first payment. You're getting a lot for your money- the lease is based on an MSRP of $45,899, which gets you the popular Premium Package, parking assist, and other desirable options.

On the other hand, the deal on the 2016 RX is based on an MSRP of $43,480, which is $2,419 less than the deal for last year's model. That's because the deal is for a base model that only comes with heated seats and a power rear door.

Pricey extras

Like most luxury brands, Lexus offers an array of options that help make their cars luxurious. However, these come with a price. Simply adding leather to the 2016 RX can trigger up to $3,085 in charges since the optional Premium Package requires a Panoramic Moonroof and special interior trim.

Even basic-sounding luxury options like the rear entertainment system can add as much as $9,785 in charges since they require a slew of added equipment like heated rear seats, Luxury Package and more.

Our take

While the 2016 RX promises to be a superior vehicle, shoppers considering this month's deal should be sure to review the fine print closely to understand exactly what they'll be getting.
