While big discounts on the Toyota Tacoma already tend to be few and far between, deals on the range-topping TRD Pro have been non-existent. The truck has an MSRP of $46,785 and is typically excluded from specials for buying & leasing. That is, up until just recently.
Bulletins sent to dealers show that, as of last Saturday, TRD Pros are now eligible for incentives in some parts of the country. For example, shoppers here in Southern California now have a choice between $1,500 cash or 1.9% financing for 60 months plus a $750 bonus.
While that may not sound like much considering some brands are offering as much as 20% off MSRP off trucks ahead of Labor Day, our analysis finds that the offers may save you close to $6,000 when compared to conditions barely a week ago.
On a $46,000 truck, taking the APR and $750 bonus would equate to a total cost of $47,469 before taxes & fees. In contrast, a loan for the exact same truck at 6% with no incentives would cost $53,359. That's a difference of $5,890.
That said, these changes aren't happening in a vacuum.
Toyota is gearing up to release an updated TRD Pro this fall for 2020 with changes like LED lights in front & back, new wheels, and a panoramic view monitor as part of a broader push to offer revamped versions of the 4Runner and Sequoia, too.
For those looking to score a deal on the current Tacoma, now may be a great time to buy. Sadly, Pro versions of the 4Runner and Tundra don't feature any of the same changes and remain excluded from offers. Current promos end September 3.
