Toyota's newest EV is excluded from its best loyalty discount. According to a bulletin sent to Toyota dealers on Wednesday, the 2023 bZ4X crossover is specifically excluded from a $750 lease loyalty incentive available across much of the country. This could make it very difficult to score a deal on the all-electric SUV.
Toyota Says No To bZ4X Loyalty Incentive
Through July 5th, Toyota is offering a $750 lease loyalty discount on new vehicles for current lessees. The deal in question can be applied to a purchase or lease for any model, including hot sellers like the Toyota RAV4 Prime. Unfortunately, the fine print clearly states that the discount can't be used toward the new bZ4X.
Although Toyota bZ4X prices start at $43,215 including destination, the SUV does qualify for a federal tax credit. Sadly, the amount is expected to fall from $7,500 to just $3,750 soon once the company triggers a mandatory phase-out process. There are no other manufacturer discounts on the bZ4X to bring down the price.
If you were hoping to be rewarded for staying loyal to the brand, the news could be disappointing. However, things could change if inventory somehow manages to improve. Having said that, bZ4X lease rates are pretty good, though the company's online lease calculator shows a bZ4X lease costing over $700 a month.
Will The Solterra Be A Better Deal Than The bZ4X?
What remains to be seen is how bZ4X deals will compare versus the Subaru Solterra. The jointly-developed EVs are incredibly similar, and our analysis found that the Solterra already has a financing deal. In addition, the first Solterra lease deals start at just $499 per month, potentially making it a better deal for EV shoppers.
