Like the thought of a hybrid but can't stand the thought of driving anything that's not Blue Oval born and bred? Look no further than the 2018 Ford C-Max Hybrid. Ford's five-door hybrid promises to be a miser at the pump but a spendthrift in space, practicality, and usability.

Choosing Your Ford C-Max Hybrid
Getting a C-Max of any stripe means signing up for power delivery via a 2.0-liter gas engine that's hooked up to an electric motor powered by a lithium ion battery. The result is 188 total horsepower, a figure that Ford claims is best in class. The electric motor can also be the sole source of propulsion, and speed demons can rest easy – the C-Max can still reach up to 85 mph in pure electric mode.
Other tricks in the C-Max's energy-saving goodie bag include active grille shutters, regenerative braking, and an extra-efficient eco-mode. All this green tech gives the C-Max an EPA-estimated rating of 42 miles per gallon city and 38 mpg highway, which falls just short of the Toyota Prius V's 43/39 mpg rating.
The C-Max can be equipped in two distinct trims: the SE or Titanium.
SE
The 2018 Ford C-Max Hybrid SE starts at $24,995 (prices include a $875 destination charge). The list of standard equipment includes LED lights, intermittent wipers, dual-zone climate control, four cup holders, one 110-volt outlet and two 12-volt power outlets, remote keyless entry, Ford's Sync infotainment system, a six-speaker audio system, a 10-way power driver's seat, a four-way manually adjustable passenger seat, an alarm, and a rearview camera.
Available packages include: the SE Driver Assist Package ($1,315, Sync 3, a reverse sensing system, and a power liftgate) and the SE Comfort Package ($1,600, a 10-way power passenger seat, heated and leather front seats, and heated exterior mirrors). Standalone options include keyless entry, a panoramic sunroof, a power liftgate, voice-activated navigation, heated front seats, and reverse sensing.
Titanium
The Hybrid Titanium has a starting price tag of $28,150. It adds the contents of the SE Comfort and SE Driver Assist packages as standard equipment, as well as a chrome grille, fog lights, a leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel, cruise control, HomeLink, ambient lighting, remote start, Sync 3, and a nine-speaker sound system.
The Titanium Driver Assist Package ($1,715) brings park assist, a hands-free power liftgate, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and a forward sensing system. Standalone options include the panoramic sunroof, power liftgate, hands-free power liftgate, park assist, and a voice-activated navigation system.
Both 2018 Ford C-Max Hybrid trims offer good value for the money. For those looking to save a little and willing to make do with a little less tech, an SE equipped with either available package gives buyers a pleasing amount of useful features and a reasonable price tag.
