When it comes to heavy-duty trucks that are capable of towing an enormous amount of cargo, few can match the Ford F-350. Ford has introduced a fully redesigned pickup truck for the 2023 model year, which arrives with an updated design, a new lineup of powertrains, and more advanced tech features. We’ve rounded up all of the things we know about the new 2023 F-350.
Instead of starting all over with the 2023 F-350’s exterior design, Ford has tweaked the heavy-duty pickup truck’s look to bring it into the modern era. At the front, the truck gets a larger grille that appears to run the full width of the pickup and is integrated directly into the split headlights. The pickup truck gains C-shaped lighting elements at the front and larger vertical side vents that are functional. The F-350’s taillights have also been redesigned, but they maintain the same squared-off design. At the back, the rear bumper gains steps to make it easier to access items in the bed, while Ford has also added steps in front of the rear wheels. Owners will also find hand-holds that are built into the bed.
The 2023 Ford F-350 gains a far more modern interior design for the new model year. The dashboard sees the largest change, as it now has a much cleaner design with squared edges. Unlike last year, the center console no longer juts out toward the cabin but sits fully flush with the dashboard now. The lower portion of the center console continues to have clearly labeled buttons with a logical layout. Ford has borrowed its Max Recline Seats from the F-150 and made them optional in the F-350. With the option, the front seats fold completely flat.
Ford is now offering the F-350 with more modern tech features. The large pickup truck comes with a standard 8-inch touchscreen with higher trims coming with a 12-inch touchscreen. Available tech features for the F-350 include a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, navigation, an 18-speaker Bang &Olufsen audio system, and built-in 5G capability capable of providing Wi-Fi for up to 10 devices at a time. For consumers that regularly tow large cargo, the 2023 F-350 is available with Trailer Navigation. It lets owners enter their trailer dimensions into the navigation system, which then finds a route that avoids any potential hazards when towing the trailer.
The F-350 is available with four different engines for 2023. A new 6.8-liter V8 engine serves as the base motor. Ford hasn’t provided performance figures for the new engine but claims the engine has more power than the outgoing 6.2-liter V8 engine. The 7.3-liter V8 engine has been updated with a new intake and tuning for extra performance, which Ford claims is best-in-class. The available 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V8 engine is now available in two different variants, as a new high-output version has been added to the lineup. All engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. All available trims above the XLT come with four-wheel drive as standard.
When properly equipped, the Ford F-350 is now capable of towing up to 38,000 pounds. The payload capacity now maxes out at 8,000 on the F-350 DRW Regular Cab 4X2 XL trim with gas Heavy-Duty Payload Package.
There are a bunch of new safety features that are available for the 2023 Ford F-350. New safety features include lane centering assist, adaptive cruise control, stop-and-go traffic assist, forward parking sensors, rear automatic emergency braking, and a new camera that’s mounted on the tailgate to give passengers a view of what’s behind the truck when the tailgate is lowered. New towing aids for the F-350 include onboard payload scales and a 360-degree trailer camera system.
