2021 Jaguar E-PACE
Unlike other websites and magazines, our ratings are not based solely on a singular road test, but rather a more encompassing batch of criteria: quality, safety, comfort, performance, fuel economy, reliability history and value. When comparing vehicles using our Rating System, it's important to note that the rating earned by each vehicle correlates only to the models within its class. For example, a compact car cannot be compared to a SUV—They are different vehicles altogether.
You can interpret our ratings in the following way:
5-Star: Outstanding vehicle. Only the most exceptional vehicles achieve this rating.
4-Star: Very Good vehicle. Very good and close to being the best vehicle in its class.
3-Star: Good vehicle. Decent, but not quite the best. Often affordable, but lacking key features found in vehicles of the same class.
2-Star: Below average vehicle. Not recommended, and lacking attributes a car buyer would come to expect for the price.
1-Star: Poor vehicle. Simply does not deserve to be on the road.
2021 Jaguar E-PACE Overview
Choosing Your Jaguar E-PACE
Jaguar offers the 2021 E-PACE in three trims: P250, P250SE, and 300 Sport. Prices range from $48,705 to $63,275, including the destination charge.
Jaguar equips all trims with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It’s what the manufacturer does to the engine to differentiate power between the trims. The version powering the P250 and P250SE models generates 246 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque.
A high-output version of this same engine benefits from a mild hybrid system, which makes a net 296 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. In every application, power is sent to all four wheels utilizing a 9-speed automatic transmission. The all-wheel-drive system evenly divides torque between the front and rear wheels, as necessary.
|Engine Type||Horsepower||Torque||Fuel Economy (Combined)|
|2.0L Turbo I4||246 horsepower||269 lb-ft||24 mpg|
|2.0L Turbo I4||296 horsepower||295 lb-ft||23 mpg|
Passenger and Cargo Capacity
The compact E-PACE offers room for up to five. Despite its spacious interior, this Jaguar is ideal for four.
The standard storage space measures 24.2 cubic feet or just over 52 cubic feet with the rear seat folded. That puts this small Jaguar near the top of its class.
The Jaguar E-PACE comes with several standard driver-assist safety features including automatic emergency braking, active lane control, and front and rear parking sensors. All trims offer the new ClearSight Interior Rear View Mirror technology for an unobstructed view of the road behind.
Other features are extra and are included in select trims or are available in package upgrades. These include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, active parking assist, and traffic sign recognition.
The E-PACE’s standard tech package includes an 11.4-inch touch-screen display, Apple CarPlay and Android smartphone compatibility, two USB ports in the first row, three USB ports in the second row, a wireless charging alcove, and Bluetooth. A 12-speaker audio system is included.
Navigation, 12.3-inch digital dashboard, Wi-Fi connectivity, a 14-speaker Meridian audio system, and a head-up display are available.
The standard model comes with LED lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, heated and power-controlled side mirrors, and a rear spoiler.
Leather seats, power front seats, automatic climate control, keyless entry with push-button start, and a cargo shade are included. A 12-speaker Meridian audio system is standard.
The middle trim comes with 18-inch wheels, power-folding side mirrors, and a power liftgate. Navigation, upgraded leather seats, and the Pivi Pro infotainment technology is also included.
An available Dynamic Handling Package adds adaptive dampers for adjustable ride quality and improved handling.
This trim comes with the upgraded engine and torque-vectoring all-wheel drive for improved handling. It has an estimated 0-60 mph time of 6.6 seconds compared to 7.0 seconds for the standard arrangement.
Other features include 20-inch five-spoke diamond-turned wheels, an upgraded interior with choice leathers, perforated leather sport seats, and a panoramic roof.
The standard engine is strong enough to move this nearly two-ton utility vehicle. The SE trim brings in desirable amenities. The rear monitor upgrade is a safety feature we like.
