The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class is expected to arrive as a carryover model. It arrived as an all-new model in 2020. The compact SUV is set to enter its fourth model year on sale.
On the outside, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLB will retain the same boxy design as the current compact SUV. The GLB’s boxy silhouette, body cladding, and upright rear end give it a more rugged design than other SUVs from the automaker. At the front, the GLB has a square grille, square headlights, and tall fenders. The rear end of the GLB features rectangular taillights, a modest rear spoiler, and a chunky rear bumper. The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLB will have the same exterior design as the current SUV.
The interior design of the current GLB matches Mercedes’ more expensive SUVs. The simple dashboard has minimal lines and is dominated by two large screens. Three large air vents and a thin row of physical controls are located on the simplistic center console. Mercedes includes a touchpad on the center console and a few physical buttons to control the infotainment system. The GLB is one of the few compact options in the class to be available with three rows of seats. The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLB will have the same interior design as the current SUV.
Standard tech features with the current GLB include a 7-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and an HD Radio. Available features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a Burmester audio system, navigation, and a wireless charging pad. We don’t expect to see any changes to the GLB’s list of tech features for the 2023 model year.
Under the hood, we expect the 2023 GLB to be available with the same engines as the current model that’s on sale. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 221 horsepower is expected to be standard. The sporty AMG GLB 35 will come with an upgraded version of the engine that produces 302 hp. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is available.
When it comes to standard safety features, the current GLB comes with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, and a driver drowsiness monitor. Available safety features include lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, a surround-view parking camera, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, and park assist.
