The premium SUV formerly known as the M-Class has been redesigned and renamed as the GLE350 to fall in line with Mercedes-Benz's plans to categorize all models more clearly according to model and powertrain. The new GLE350 has a more athletic, muscular look that's paired with all the luxurious interior amenities Mercedes-Benz is known for.
What's New for 2016
The exterior has a new front end and LED taillamps. New upholstery and trim choices offer buyers the opportunity to tailor the interior cabin with a new, fresh style.
Choosing Your Mercedes-Benz GLE350
The GLE350 comes equipped with a gasoline 3.5-liter V6 that produces 302 horsepower and mates with a seven-speed automatic transmission. Although it's available with 4Matic all-wheel-drive, this is the only model in the Mercedes-Benz lineup of SUVs that can be ordered as a rear-wheel drive vehicle.
Standard features include Agility Control, which electronically adjusts the suspension, a seven-speed transmission, and four drive modes (Comfort, Sport, Slippery and Custom) that enhance the SUV's responsiveness and handling in a variety of conditions.
The interior has a rich look with eucalyptus wood trim, privacy glass, premium lighting and a leather steering wheel with integrated multi-function controls. Other standard conveniences including an 8-inch color screen with Bluetooth, HD radio, heated front seats and a power liftgate. Roof rails, 19-inch 5-spoke wheels and a power/tilt sunroof are other standard details.
Exterior and Interior Sport Packages add a sporty look with AMG race-inspired styling that includes sports seats, brushed aluminum pedals, an AMG exterior body design and 20-inch AMG 5-spoke wheels. A new Night Package gives additional AMG touches of high-design with details like signature 20-inch wheels and gloss black trim throughout the interior and exterior.
If you're looking for driver connectivity and infotainment, the mBrace Package offers remote access and app connectivity while the Premium package upgrades the dashboard with Sirius radio and traffic integrated with COMAND navigation with maps and a rear camera for safety.
The Parking Assist Package with a surround camera system and active parking assist makes city parking an effortless experience while the Driver Assistance Package offers Blind Spot, Lane Keeping and Speed Control assistance.
The list of options also includes standalone upgrades that add luxury and additional passenger comfort in both the front and back including heated seats, massage, leather upholstery and upgraded trim. Two additional premium sound systems by Harmon Kardon and Bang & Olufsen, and an in-car WiFi Hotspot for connectivity will keep passengers entertained and connected.
Opt for the 4Matic all-wheel-drive model for the best traction. It's a $2500 upgrade and you'll sacrifice 2 miles per gallon in fuel efficiency, but it's well worth it when road and weather conditions change.
