The GLE450 AMG is a new, domed-roof coupe SUV from Mercedes-Benz. The coupe term is a bit confusing -- it’s normally used to refer to two-door models, but the GLE450 AMG coupe has four doors and seats five.
This is the first model introduced in the newly created line-up of "AMG Sport" vehicles. This means that the high-performance racing division of Mercedes named AMG will be creating more affordable versions of their innovative and top-of-the-line models to bridge the gap between a standard Mercedes class and the top-of-the line AMG model.

Choosing Your Mercedes-Benz GLE450 AMG
The GLE450 AMG is designed to emphasize the "sport" in sport utility. The model is heavier and has a longer wheelbase than other SUVs in the GLE class. It offers drivers a sporty yet stable driving experience and 0 to 60 mph acceleration of 5.6 seconds with an AMG-tuned 362 horsepower 3-liter bi-turbo V6 paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox. It also features four-wheel drive with a 40/60 power distribution split and an adaptive air suspension
The standard interior is nicely appointed with AMG styling but not over-the-top, in an effort to keep the cost of this AMG entry-level model affordable at $65,100 MSRP. Heated sport front seats, wood trim, navigation with traffic control, HD radio, dual high-resolution screens that display vehicle information and entertainment options and a power glass sunroof are all standard. The standard 21-inch AMG five-spoke wheels can be upgraded for two 22-inch options.
Standard safety features like blind spot control, brake assist, collision prevention assist, and lane keeping assist work to keep the driver alert and passengers safe.
Available options include leather seats, two upgraded sound system options, the ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM with front and rear stabilizer bars for improved maneuvering, a surround-view system that displays the vehicle and its surroundings on the screen, and a parking assist package. Also available are two safety-related systems called BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist and Distronic Plus that sense the road ahead and judge traffic conditions to adjust speed or stop to avoid a collision.
The windows in this model are set high, which may affect visibility during parking. The parking assist package with parking sensors and a surround view system that help steer and brake for you during parking are worth adding. The $1290 package price is far less expensive than a replacement bumper or new side panel after a parking mishap.
