2022 RAM 1500 Classic

The 2022 RAM 1500 Classic rolls into a new model year without any major changes. The pickup truck is the last-gen model that's being sold alongside the newer RAM 1500. Fewer technology features, a more affordable price tag, and the older design ensure the 1500 Classic continues to have a spot in RAM’s lineup.

RAM offers the 2022 1500 Classic in three trims: Tradesman, Express, and Warlock. Prices start at $31,310 (including destination) for the Tradesman and go up to $40,530 for the Warlock.

All 1500 Classic trims come with a standard V6 engine, though a V8 engine is available for $1,700.

The 1500 Classic comes standard with rear-wheel drive, with four-wheel drive being available as a $4,940 option on Tradesman and Express trims and $3,500 extra on the Warlock. Both the V6 and V8 engines come paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

In the Quad Cab and Crew Cab body styles, the 1500 Classic can seat up to six people. The Tradesman and Express are offered in Regular Cab, Crew Cab, and Quad Cab configurations, while the Warlock is available in Crew Cab and Quad Cab body styles. RAM also offers the 1500 Classic with three bed sizes that include a 5-foot-7-inch box, a 6-foot-4-inch box, and an 8-foot box.

There aren’t many safety features to highlight with the 1500 Classic. The pickup comes with a rearview camera, while the Warlock is offered with rear parking sensors. Other than that, things are pretty basic with this pickup.

The 1500 Classic comes with a five-inch touchscreen with RAM’s Uconnect 3 infotainment system as standard. The infotainment system also comes with six audio speakers, two USB ports, Bluetooth, and an audio input jack.

The $845 Electronics Group adds an 8.4-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a seven-inch display in the instrument cluster, satellite radio, and the Uconnect 5 infotainment system. The Electronics Group package in the Warlock costs $945.

The Tradesman is a barebones work truck with 17-inch steel wheels, manual mirrors, vinyl upholstery, air conditioning, automatic headlights, manual door locks and windows, and vinyl flooring.

There are a number of available packages for the Tradesman trim. The Chrome Appearance Group package costs $695 and brings 17-inch aluminum wheels, a bright grille, bright bumpers, and a body-color upper fascia. The Popular Equipment Group is priced at $825 and brings carpet floors, cloth upholstery, and satellite radio. Bundling these two packages together results in the Chrome Plus Package that costs $1,295.

The Power and Remote Entry Group brings heated exterior mirrors, power locks, power windows, and remote keyless entry for $735. For a blacked-out look, there’s the available Tradesman Black Package that costs $685. It includes 17-inch black wheels, black badges, a black grille, black headlight trim, cloth seats, and a semi-gloss black hub.

Lastly, there’s the Tradesman SXT Package. It’s the priciest package available with a price tag of $2,895 but brings 20-inch aluminum wheels, bright bumpers, a bright grille, cloth upholstery, fog lights, dual rear exhaust outlets, a body-color upper fascia, and satellite radio.

The Express spruces up the way the pickup truck looks with a body-collar grille surround, body-color front fascia, a body-color rear bumper, 17-inch aluminum wheels, and fog lights. Other standard features are the same ones found on the Tradesman trim.

The Express shares a lot of the same optional packages as the Tradesman. The Express Value Package includes cloth upholstery, 20-inch aluminum wheels, carpet floors, and satellite radio for an extra $2,160.

The Warlock features an aggressive design with black exterior accents, black 20-inch wheels, a unique grille, and black bumpers. The trim also features LED fog lights and bifunctional halogen projector headlights.

The Warlock has quite a few packages that aren’t available on lower trims. For $595, the pickup truck can be fitted with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. Remote start is $395, while push-button start and remote keyless entry are $300. The Warlock All-Terrain Package includes 17-inch black wheels, all-terrain tires, and floor mats for $195.

The $795 Luxury Group package brings some modern creature comforts to the pickup, including an auto-dimming exterior mirror, a seven-inch display in the instrument cluster, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED bed lighting, a universal garage door opener, power-folding mirrors, heated exterior mirrors, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
