The 2023 RAM 1500 adopts a rear seat reminder and an LED hitch light as standard. Hill ascent and descent control is now standard on the Rebel trim. The Limited's newly available Elite Package provides cargo management solutions and plush interior appointments. The current RAM 1500 generation debuted in 2019, and the previous generation remains on sale as the RAM 1500 Classic.
Choosing Your RAM 1500
The 2023 RAM 1500 continues in eight trim levels: Tradesman, Tradesman HFE, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, Limited, and TRX. Pricing starts at $39,305 including destination and stretches to $86,250 for the TRX.
Engine Choices
The Tradesman through the Limited Longhorn starts out with a V6 engine with eTorque, a mild hybrid assist feature. Buyers can upgrade to a V8 ($2,795) or a turbodiesel V6 ($4,995). eTorque is available on the V8 as a no-cost option.
The V8 is standard on the Limited, and the high-performance TRX carries a larger supercharged V8. All RAM 1500 models use an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Four-wheel drive is standard on the TRX and costs $3,800 on the other trims. Designed for efficiency, the Tradesman HFE is available with the V6 engine and rear-wheel drive only.

Passenger and Cargo Capacity
The lower 2023 RAM 1500 trims (Tradesman, Tradesman HFE, Bog Horn) have a standard Quad Cab that seats up to six and a 6-foot-4-inch bed. A Crew Cab is available on the Tradesman and Big Horn with a 6-foot-4-inch bed ($3,000) or a 5-foot-7-inch bed ($2,700). The Crew Cab features full-width rear doors and extra rear legroom. (The HFE is Quad Cab only.)
The remaining trims get the Crew Cab and 5-foot-7-inch bed as standard. The 6-foot-4-foot bed is available on the Laramie, Limited Longhorn, and Limited for $300.The individual front seats on the upper trims reduce seating to five.
Safety Features
The 2023 RAM 1500 is meant to be highly configurable, so the only standard driver assistance feature is the government-mandated review camera.
The Level 1 Safety Group for the Tradesman and Big Horn trims adds lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror for $595. These items are standard on subsequent trims except the TRX.
The Laramie and Rebel can get an Advanced Safety Group with adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, surround-view cameras, an automated parking system, and tailgate-ajar warning lights. The bundle costs $1,895 on the Laramie and $1,695 on the Rebel.
The $1,095 Technology Group for the Rebel and Laramie adds a review camera mirror, a head-up display, and an LED high-mounted center stop lamp. The features in both packages are available on the Limited Longhorn in the expansive $6,560 Longhorn Level 1 Equipment Group, which also contains blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Blind-spot monitoring is standard on the Limited, and everything else comes in the Limited Level 1 Equipment Group for $4,395.
As for the TRX, the $995 Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and the tailgate ajar light. Most other safety features are included in the TRX Level 2 Equipment Group ($10,995).
Connectivity
The standard infotainment system for the Tradesman trims and Big Horn includes a 5-inch touchscreen, six speakers, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and two USB ports. The Big Horn's Level 1 Equipment Group ($1,895) includes an 8.4-inch touchscreen, two more USB ports, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. A nine-speaker sound system is part of the $3,095 Big Horn Level 2 Equipment Group. These items are standard on the Laramie and Rebel, which can also get navigation, a 12-inch touchscreen, and HD radio in the Laramie Level 1 Equipment Group ($2,695) and Rebel 1 Equipment Group ($2,565), respectively.
All the aforementioned connectivity features are the standard on the Limited Longhorn, Limited, and TRX. The Limited Longhorn Level 1 Equipment Group and Limited Level 1 Equipment Group add wireless phone charging and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. These items are available in the TRX Level 2 Equipment Group.
2023 RAM 1500 Tradesman — MSRP From $39,305
Designed primarily for work, the Tradesman comes with black body trim, vinyl seats and flooring, and 18-inch steel wheels. Air conditioning and power accessories are standard. The Tradesman Level 1 Equipment Group ($1,695) provides cloth seats, carpeting, a power-sliding rear window, and a satellite radio.
2023 RAM 1500 Tradesman HFE — MSRP From $40,942
The HFE comes with the V6 engine, Quad Cab, and rear-wheel drive to maximize efficiency. There are no option packages, but buyers do get front bucket seats, a cargo cover, side steps, chrome exterior trim, and 20-inch chrome wheels.
2023 RAM 1500 Big Horn — MSRP From $44,520
The Big Horn gets the chrome exterior trim, plus fog lights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and 18-inch aluminum wheels. In addition to its connectivity features, the Big Horn's Level 1 Equipment Group tacks on heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated side mirrors, a power-sliding rear window, an eight-way power driver seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and power-adjustable pedals.
These features are also included in the Big Horn Level 2 Equipment Group, along with automatic dual-zone climate control, a universal home remote, remote start, power-folding side mirrors, LED footwell lighting, and the nine-speaker sound system.
2023 RAM 1500 Laramie — MSRP From $54,470
The Laramie is the first trim to feature leather upholstery. Along with it, buyers get a 12-way power driver seat, ventilated front seats, and LED exterior lighting. The heated front seats and heated steering wheel are also standard.
Besides its other upgrades, the Laramie Level 1 Equipment Group provides front and rear parking sensors, reverse automatic braking, automatic wipers, automatic high beams, a power tailgate release, and blind-spot monitoring. These are also available in the Laramie Level B Equipment Group ($3,770), along with the Harman Kardon sound system and heated rear seats.
2023 RAM 1500 Rebel — MSRP From $55,285
The Rebel comes ready for off-road adventure with a raised suspension, all-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels, and standard hill ascent and descent control. The body wears black trim, fender flares, and a performance hood. The Comfort and Convenience Group ($595) adds an eight-way power passenger seat, driver memory settings, heated rear seats, and wireless smartphone charging.
In addition to its other features, the Rebel Level 1 Equipment Group includes a universal home remote, power-folding side mirrors, power-adjustable pedals, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and more. The Revel Equipment 2 Group ($4,110) also offers remote start, a vehicle alarm, parking sensors, and enhanced courtesy lighting.
2023 RAM 1500 Longhorn — MSRP From $61,230
The Limited Longhorn features a Nappa leather interior with wood trim, a 12-inch configurable instrument screen, and heated rear seats. The exterior wears polished 20-inch wheels and a spray-in bedliner. The Southfork Edition Group ($1,295) brings premium leather buckets seats, a multifunction tailgate, a unique instrument cluster theme, and all-terrain tires. The Longhorn Level 1 Equipment Group contains the aforementioned safety and connectivity upgrades, plus ventilated rear seats.
2023 RAM 1500 Limited — MSRP From $65,645
The Limited gets a premium leather and wood interior, plus power running boards and an adaptive air suspension. The new Elite Package ($2,145) features the multifunction tailgate, four cargo tie-down hooks, a cargo divider, heated and ventilated 12-way power front seats, a suede headliner, a unique instrument cluster theme, and a jeweled rotary shifter. All remaining features are included in the Limited Level 1 Equipment group.
2023 RAM 1500 TRX — MSRP From $86,250
Built for high performance off the road, the TRX carries the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 and standard AWD. Other performance upgrades include 35-inch all-terrain tires, a 2-inch suspension lift, Bilstein adaptive dampers, remote reservoirs, beefier brakes, an electronic locking differential, heavy-duty skid plates, launch control, performance data pages, a performance dual-exhaust system, and no less than nine driving modes.
The $1,295 TRX Carbon-Fiber Package adds a leather and carbon flat-bottom steering wheel and carbon fiber interior trim. Other standard equipment and option groupings are similar to the Limited.
Compare 1500 Trims Side-By-Side
The 2023 RAM 1500 covers the full-size pickup market from top to bottom. For mixed personal and business use, the Big Horn offers a fine blend of features for the money. Although it isn't cheap, the luxurious Limited clearly undercuts key competitors in price.
