Model Preview
Made for hauling cargo or people, the Ram ProMaster City is back for the 2022 model year. The ProMaster City comes in two configurations, the Cargo Van and the Wagon. Predictably, the Cargo Van configuration is for hauling items while the Wagon is fitted for passenger trips. Along those lines, The Cargo Van seats two while the Wagon seats up to five. For larger needs, RAM also sells the regular ProMaster line of cargo and passenger vans.
In terms of size, the ProMaster City Wagon has 101.7 cubic feet of cargo space in the back with the Cargo Van adding 30 cubic feet to that. The back may be saved for storage, but the front has some tech to it. The ProMaster City comes with the Uconnect 3 which features a five-inch touchscreen, hands-free calling, Bluetooth streaming audio, four speakers, voice command, a USB outlet, and steering wheel-mounted controls. Uconnect 4C Navigation is also available as an optional upgrade.
Powered by a 2.4-liter I-4 engine with nine-speed automatic transmission, the 2022 ProMaster City has 178 horsepower and up to 2,000 pounds of towing. It’s available with front-wheel drive and gets a fuel economy of 21 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. Putting stock in safety, Ram has also equipped the ProMaster City with seven standard airbags, a ParkView rear backup camera, ParkView rear park assist, sensors, fog lamps, and 12-inch front disc brakes for durability.
The 2022 Ram ProMaster City is on sale now, starting with an MSRP of $28,990 with destination included, which is significantly cheaper than its regular ProMaster counterpart. Although not a part of a very large segment of the industry, the 2022 ProMaster City may find competition in the Ford Transit, Chevrolet Express, and Mercedes-Benz Metris-Class.
