The Volkswagen GLI will be a carryover for 2023. Based on a recent announcement from VW, the 2023 GLI will see no major changes. As before, this higher-performance version of the Jetta compact sedan will continue to be sold in a single, loaded Autobahn trim for the coming year.
Like the standard Jetta, the GLI saw a minor refresh last year. To put that into perspective, the car's stablemate, the Volkswagen Golf GTI hatchback, saw a complete redesign last year involving a boost in power, a totally new look, and what may be the most digital cockpit ever seen in a GTI.
Volkswagen hasn't released full 2023 GLI specs just yet, but we do know that the car will continue to come with a 228-horsepower 2-liter turbocharged engine. That's slightly less potent than the GTI's 241-horsepower turbo. It appears a GLI power increase won't happen anytime soon.
Fleet production data points to 2023 GLI production starting in late July of 2022. If that proves to be accurate, it may be reasonable to expect a 2023 GLI release date sometime in late summer or early fall. Stay tuned for potential updates to this page as they become available.
Official 2023 GLI pricing will start at $32,440 including a destination charge of $1,095. The optional DSG transmission adds just $800, bringing the price tag to $33,240. For reference, 2023 GTI prices start at $31,275, though it should be noted that GTIs offer a wider selection of trims.
